With Roadfood‘s variable release schedule, it can be hard to keep up with just exactly what is going on when. Luckily, Nerds has got you covered. Below, we have descriptions for all episodes of Roadfood season 1, which will air … at some time or another (it’s complicated … long story short, check your local PBS listings!). To see what Roadfood has in store for the season, including the locations that will be featured, all you need to do is look below!
Discover a dish that is truly unique to the United States, the Viet-Cajun Crawfish. Relatively new, this Asian-inspired food craze is also a story of Vietnamese refugee immigration. In Houston and along the coast, Vietnamese culture infuses the traditional Texas landscape, bringing together Gulf and Vietnamese influences and ingredients for a delicious Houston original.
Episode 2 – NYC/Little Dominican Republic: Tres Golpes
Little Dominican Republic, located in Washington Heights, is a microcosm of the Dominican community in Manhattan, NY. This community is vibrant and truly alive with Dominican cuisine and culture, with beloved dishes like camarones al horno, chicharrones, tres golpes and mangú
Episode 3 – Rhode Island: Calamari
Ever heard of a state appetizer? Unless you live in Rhode Island, the answer is likely no, as this tiny state is the first — and only — to pursue this particular display of state pride. But the story of the calamari industry in Rhode Island is surprisingly rich, with many layers to bite into.
Episode 4 – Chicago, IL: BBQ
African American influence in Chicago cannot be overstated, stretching from music to food to much more. Jazz and Blues, as well as South Side BBQ — a style of barbeque only found in a handful of restaurants in Chicago — are just a few examples of how African American culture has shaped the Windy City.
Episode 5 – Brownsville, TX
Brownsville, Texas, on the border of Mexico, is where you’ll find some of the best tacos in the U.S., both in variety and quality. It’s also a place where border politics have direct and immediate consequences, and where Elon Musk built a launch site for Space X rockets to Mars. How do tacos reflect such a diverse place?
Episode 6 – Barberton, OH: Serbian Fried Chicken
Booming economic growth and rapid industrialization in the early twentieth century drove immigration from Europe to Ohio, and that immigration brought the now hyper-regional dish of Barberton fried chicken to the area. In fact, derived from the recipe of Serbian immigrants who founded the still-operating Belgrade Gardens restaurant in the 1930s, Serbian fried chicken has become a regional staple.
Episode 7 – Detroit, MI: Collard Greens / Soul
As African Americans migrated from the south up to Detroit, they brought their culture, traditions and cuisine with them. Collard greens, a soul food staple, tells the story of how African Americans have shaped and continue to shape the Motor City, one farm and one restaurant at a time.
Episode 8 – New Bedford, MA: Shrimp Mozambique
New Bedford, MA has a significant Portuguese immigrant population, dating back to the first wave arriving in the 1800’s and the second in the 1960-1970’s. The Portuguese wove their culture and identity into the area, including its cuisine. A star dish is Shrimp Mozambique, a dish also claimed by Cape Verdean immigrants in the area.
Episode 9 – Eastern Shore, VA: Oysters and Crabs
Virginia’s Eastern Shore is one of timeless tradition and continuous environmental change. Discover Tangier Island, a fishing village that is sinking into the ocean, and aquafarmers on the Shore supplying the country with shellfish. Oysters and crabs tell the story of this region that is shaped by change – geographic, climate, cultural and personal.
Episode 10 – Southern Louisiana: Gumbo
Gumbo, originally from Louisiana, came out of the great diversity of cultures that were present in the area at the time. With African roots, the dish has evolved over time, drawing from French, American, Spanish, and Caribbean influences that represent gumbo as a true melting pot of cultures and cuisine.
Episode 11 – Phoenix, AZ: Frybread
For many Indigenous people, frybread is a dish with a complicated and controversial past: it is a symbol of perseverance and pain, but also a part of their culinary story. Now, some tribal members in Arizona are finding that looking back is the best way forward — reconnecting with the foods, traditions and ceremonies that tie them to their ancestors and help their communities thrive.
Episode 12 – Oklahoma/Route 66: The Onion Fried Burger
Invented during the Great Depression as a way to offset the cost of beef, the onion fried burger has become a beloved staple of El Reno, Oklahoma. On Route 66 and known as the Crossroads of America, this small town has big personality, and the restaurants serving this iconic dish have served as the heartbeat of the community through all of the ups and downs.
Episode 13 – Greenville, MS: Tamales
Tamales have a long — and somewhat contested — history in the American South. They are an enduring food of the Mississippi Delta, perhaps hundreds of years old, and are also intricately tied to the Blues born in the region. A unique type, the Hot Tamales, are often served in Blues clubs and sung about in Blues songs, but what exactly is the cultural connection between the music and food?
For those who are unfamiliar, Roadfood: Discovering America One Dish at a Time is one of PBS’ newest ventures in which host Misha Collins travels around the (continental, as far as we know) United States exploring different facets of the melting pot that is America’s culture through food. Collins himself has compared it to Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown — but limited to the states. The show’s first season has 13 episodes — and will hopefully be renewed for a second season considering all of the buzz it’s garnered in such a short time.
Roadfood is currently available on PBS Passport in the USA and Canada. As for live TV? Well, that’s a little more complicated. Check out our article here to see the different options for watching Roadfood. Until more news is released, make sure to peruse Roadfood’s season 1 descriptions above and our other content related to the show here. On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, the yearly Winter Is Coming special aired some spectacular matchups. Danielson and Page meet for the first time in the ring, Deeb and Shida continue their feud with a grudge match, and who gets custody of the Dynamite Diamond ring? Keep reading for everything that happened this week on AEW Dynamite.
Bryan Danielson versus “Hangman” Adam Page
Hangman has wrist control, Danielson sweeps Hangman’s legs. Danielson ankle picks, Hangman rushes out. Pushing each other around, Danielson gets in Hangman’s head once again. Boot to the chest by Hangman to Danielson. Hangman slams Danielson, chops him hard in the chest, taking him off his feet momentarily. Danielson works Page’s legs and sets him up for the Romero Special, locking it in. He turns it into a variation of a Dragon Sleeper, but Page fights out. They exchange chops with each other.
As Page gives him space to recover, Danielson takes the upper hand once again by delivering an uppercut to Page. Page chases Danielson, hitting him with a big boot to the face. Hangman goes to the top rope, Danielson lands a round kick to Page. Danielson traps Page between the ropes and once again hits him with uppercuts, chops, and middle kicks. Page desperately needs an opening and finds it with a fall-away slam and a Death Valley driver; Danielson kicks out. Page goes for a moon sault press, but Danielson moves out of the way, quickly attempting an inside cradle. Danielson throws Page off the ring post, forcing him to land on his shoulder. He continues the assault on the shoulder on the steel ring post (a callback to Unified 2006 with Nigel). Danielson counters the fall-away slam, trying to get Hangman flat on his stomach for the Cattle Mutilation. Page sets up a figure four leg lock to Danielson who rolls to the ropes.
Danielson tries to take him out on the apron, but Hangman reverses it on him, landing the Deadeye. Hangman crashes face-first into the table after Danielson moves out of the way. Danielson attempts a maneuver from the top rope again; Page lands on his head and delivers a rolling lariat to Danielson. They trade shots back and forth. Danielson counters the rolling elbow with a kick to Page’s head. Page delivers stomps to Danielson’s head, and the LeBell Lock is locked in on Page. Page fights out, momentarily trying to roll Danielson over for the pin and slingshots him into the ropes. Hangman finally hits him with the Buckshot Lariat just as the match ends in a 60-minute draw.
Wardlow versus Matt Sydal
Sydal immediately goes for Wardlow’s head. Wardlow slams Sydal to the mat. He attempts to go for his Powerbomb Symphony, but Shawn Spears tells him just to pin him. Wardlow doesn’t listen, going for another powerbomb, pinning him then. Spears enters the ring with his chair, smacking Sydal against the back.
Serena Deeb versus Hikaru Shida
Shida gets straight into the ring, but Deeb knocks her off the apron. The two trade hits to start. Shida isolates Deeb in the corner and dropkicks her. Deeb goes after Shida’s knee, but Shida immediately breaks the hold by making her way to the ropes. Deeb locks the figure four on Shida on the ring post. Deeb continues her control over Shida and her knee; Shida creates an opening with a step-up enzuigiri and a delayed vertical suplex. Deeb exposes the turnbuckle, hooking Shida around it for a neck breaker assist. Shida lands the falcon arrow, and both women struggle to make it back to their feet. Deeb punishes her with the single-leg crab. Both women exchange covers before Shida goes for the pin with a Jackknife cover.
MJF versus Dante for the Dynamite Diamond Ring
MJF immediately goes for the famed side headlock takeover. Dante smacks him in the face and sends him to the mat, gaining the upper hand for a few beats, before MJF throws him to the ground. Dante is out cold on the floor, but MJF sends him into the barricade anyway. Throwing him back in the ring, he works Dante’s arm, but Dante fights to his feet and out of the attempted powerbomb. MJF covers Dante and attempts to use the ropes to aid him, but the referee catches him.
Dante flies over the top rope to hit MJF with a heavy blow to the face. MJF attempts to stall but Dante stays on him, landing on top of MJF with a Shooting Star Press. They exchange near-fall roll-ups. MJF attempts a side headlock takeover once again, but Dante scouts it, turning it into a side headlock takeover of his own. MJF hits a Liger Bomb; Dante kicks out. Just as Dante is about to win the match, Ricky Starks helps MJF get his foot to the rope, allowing MJF to put him in an armbar and win.
Starks and Martin’s rivalry goes back to the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal last week when Martin swerved Team Taz by eliminating them and rejoining Lio Rush.

It’s hard to believe that this week, Riverdale aired its 100th episode! The milestone episode served as a tribute to Archie Comics as well as the fifth and final part of the “Rivervale” event. Jughead is figuring out that Rivervale is not what it seems, so keep reading to find out what happened and who returned in “Chapter One Hundred: The Jughead Paradox.”
Kailey Schwerman/The CW
Strange Dreams
We begin with our favorite characters, all seemingly alive and well for some reason. Betty tells Archie she had a nightmare about the whole town sacrificing him; Fangs tells Toni he had this crazy dream that she was drowning and she came back as a ghost; Veronica tells Reggie she had the craziest dream and he asks if he got dragged to Hell in it; Nana Rose comes into Cheryl’s room and she tells her that she had the most frightful dream and Cheryl says the two of them swapped bodies for some reason; and Jughead hears a ticking clock under his bed but nothing is there. He walks down the stairs and there’s an explosion and he wakes up in Archie’s garage.
Double Trouble
The CW
While in the lounge at Rivervale High with everyone discussing hers and Archie’s (surprise) wedding plans, Betty gets a call from Dr. Curdle who breaks the news that Jughead Jones is dead. Betty is looking at Jughead who is very much alive. What is going on?
Jughead goes down to the morgue to see for himself and the corpse is definitely him. Dr. Curdle figures it’s a paradox. That Jughead was strangled along the Lonely Highway by the sign.
Veronica and Reggie are at the Pembrooke when there’s a knock at the door. When Veronica opens it, it’s Reggie, but it’s season 1 Reggie aka Ross Butler. Veronica tries to explain that, according to Jughead’s visit, there are two parallel universes and two Reggies. She basically grounds the two of them since they can’t have two Reggies running around, but Reggie Prime wants to crash the bachelorette party while Current Reggie doesn’t want to miss Archie’s bachelor party.
Veronica comes back to the Pembrooke to find the two Reggies fighting with each other. Until they both start acting like adults, she grounds them. She later finds out her decision was ultimately the wrong one, as they are both found dead when she comes home from the rehearsal dinner. They literally fought to the death.
Riverdale or Rivervale?
Kailey Schwerman/The CW
While checking out the scene of where the other Jughead was found, Jughead takes a look at the town sign. Rivervale on one side, while the other clearly says Riverdale, albeit backwards. Jughead looks through his doppelganger’s personal items, coming across a Rivervale comic book. He starts to look through his own comic book collection, noticing all of them are about him and his friends. He sits down and begins to read them from the beginning.
As he’s reading the comics, Jughead’s remembering things that happened. He tells Tabitha about his hallucinations and shows her the comics. The first 95 are called Riverdale set in a town called Riverdale. There’s an explosion and suddenly it’s Rivervale. Jughead thinks Rivervale is a parallel universe to Riverdale.
“First comes Riverdale. And then there’s Rivervale, which is a lot like Riverdale, except it’s darker, nastier.”
A warped reflection of Riverdale and it keeps getting more twisted, Jughead tries to explain. Tabitha reads them for herself and she has the same experience as Jughead. He remembered recent events clearly but going back further in his memory was hazier. Tabitha remembers those things happening in Rivervale, not Riverdale.
Comics vs. Reality
Jughead meets with Archie and Betty about the comics to ask them about the explosion but Archie says it was just a dream. He goes to Veronica and Reggie next. While the comics depict Hiram as terrorizing Riverdale for years, Veronica says her father died the night before her quinceañera. She was so distraught they had to cancel the Jonas Brothers performance. If Rivervale is the dark twin-verse to Riverdale, who is their Big Bad?
The CW
Jughead then meets with Cheryl to have her read about Jason’s death and discovery. She tells Jughead that her brother is not dead, he is still very alive. Jughead tries to wrap around his head the fact that she had a funeral for him and talked to his corpse for months. As if on cue, Jay Jay, in a tennis uniform, comes around the corner. After Jason leaves to wait for Cheryl in the car, Jughead tells her they had an in-memoriam page for him in their yearbook. At school, Jughead looks through the yearbook and sure enough, there was an in-memoriam page for one Jason Blossom.
“Though Riverdale and Rivervale diverged in ways minor and major, they were analogous.”
A Parallel Universe
Jughead tries to check out a book on parallel universes but it’s found out it was checked out by Dilton Doiley years ago and never returned. That’s also when it’s found out that he is not dead, in fact he teaches Physics at Rivervale High. He goes into Dilton’s classroom, where Ethel Muggs is also a teaching assistant. Jughead shared his theories with Dilton, who believes him. He admits that he thinks the explosion at the end of issue 95 is what created Rivervale, like the Big Bang. And he has this impending sense of doom. Like something bad is going to happen. Dilton says they should do nothing, to forget it. Jughead became aware for a reason, conscious of the two universes. Why?
The Big Bad
Cheryl gets a letter from the Black Hood that Jason’s been kidnapped. Remembering where Jason was held before Clifford killed him, Jughead suggests he’s at the Whyte Wyrm. Jughead, Archie and Sheriff Keller find Jason, alive, at the Whyte Wyrm. Sheriff Keller shoots the Black Hood before he shoots them. It’s not Hiram Lodge, but Clifford Blossom.
During Archie and Betty’s rehearsal dinner. as Hal Cooper (alive and not evil) is talking, Toni comes in, devastated. Cheryl’s dead, she was strangled.
“It was as if Riverdale’s reality was trying to reassert itself on Rivervale.”
The Truth About Rivervale
The CW
Jughead figures that Dilton Doiley is behind it all, and he finds him trying to leave his classroom. Dilton had to see what would happen if the universes remained conjoined. They become unstable, and eventually, they will both implode. Both universes are expanding, but they are still linked at the point of creation, according to Ethel. They’re going to expand into each other. All Dilton cares about is getting a front row seat. He starts choking and soon, dies. Ethel poisoned him, because he was willing to let everyone in two universes die. She knows how to save the prime one, Riverdale.
Theoretically, if they can create the same circumstances of the birth of the pocket universe, the same energy that conjoined them could also separate them. Jughead knows the moment. The bomb under Archie’s bedroom. A confluence of good and evil. Archie and Betty’s love, Hiram’s hate. Creation: Jughead was writing and destruction: the explosion. Science: Palladium on Archie’s desk and magic: Cheryl put a curse on the town. If they recreate the events in Archie’s bedroom as closely as they can, it should work and Rivervale will cease to exist.
Not wanting to risk Archie and Betty’s lives since they’re getting married, Jughead figures he and Veronica can set the events, since they are the counterparts. Veronica is on the edge, not wanting to go along with a plan that might not work for a universe that might not exist. But it does, Jughead promises.
“It’s a universe of high school dances, and masked serial killers, of football, and milkshakes, and musicals, and cults, diabolical board games and murderous nuns.”
Veronica agrees to make out and save the universe. Here’s to Vughead going canon.
The Devil in the Details
When it’s time to put the plan in place, Veronica does not show up. Rather, Archie does, and he’s not very happy. He doesn’t want Jughead to separate the two universes. Archie killed Veronica, he killed Cheryl, and the other Jughead. Archie’s reasoning is that no one stays dead. Cheryl and Veronica will be back. Everyone comes back to life in this universe. Archie is convinced that his dad will come and be at his wedding. He knows all the secrets of this universe. He was at Ground Zero for the birth of Rivervale. The moment of creation and destruction. He saw everything. It’s another chance for him to be with his dad. Archie and Jughead get at it and just as Archie is about to kill Jughead, he’s shot in the head, thanks to Betty.
Jughead and Betty get ready to recreate the moments before the original explosion, but there’s a knock at the door. Jughead, Narrator Jughead, comes in. The three of them catch up and Narrator Jughead tells them just where he went after Archie strangled him.
The Great Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe in the Sky
Kailey Schwerman/The CW
After Narrator Jughead died, he went to the sweet Hereafter Pop’s. In true Archie Comics fashion, everyone is dressed like their comics counterpart, reading Riverdale and Rivervale comics. Everything is at peace, old-fashioned. That is where Narrator Jughead found it. A special issue that came between issues 95 and 96, it abridged a gap between Riverdale and Rivervale. If there was another power source to keep it running, Rivervale could survive.
That other power source is imagination. Jughead is going to save Rivervale by becoming a living battery. In other words, a story generator. Jughead will have to write stories in order to save Rivervale. Once he starts producing, he will have to be in complete isolation. The downside is that Betty will forget Jughead’s sacrifice and he will vanish from her memory. Jughead reassures Betty and she obliges.
Meanwhile, Back in Riverdale…
The CW
With Jughead writing and Betty and Narrator Jughead recreating the events, everything is going according to plan, not including the now resurrected Archie trying to break into the bedroom. Betty and Narrator Jughead get ready for an explosion that should obliterate a universe or two but instead, there’s silence. The bomb was gone, the pounding on the door ceased. They survived. They come down stairs and everything is as it should be. Their friends around the table, waiting for them.
After dinner, Jughead and Tabitha prepare to move Jughead’s things out of Archie’s garage and into their new apartment. Including a comic book collection he forgot he had. Down in Dilton’s bunker, the other Jughead will continue writing so to keep Rivervale in an endless time loop. But what happens in the prime Riverdale universe, Ethel wonders.
“Guess we’ll never know if someone did something to change the course of events in Riverdale.”
Meanwhile, back in good old Riverdale, Archie and Betty are back to making out, that is until they’re interrupted by Betty’s phone. A man tells her to get out of the house. There’s a bomb under the bed. Betty tells Archie they need to go, now. As Jughead is writing, there’s an explosion. And he just looks around as his ears are ringing.
What Else Happened
The CW
There were quite a few things that happened on the episode that we didn’t get around to so here’s quick roundup!
At school, Jughead runs into a very much alive Ben Button, who previously sacrificed himself by jumping out of a window for the Gargoyle King.
While looking through the comics, Reggie points out that he looks different in some issues. It’s clearly a nod to the fact that Charles Melton replaced Ross Butler after season 1 due to Butler shooting 13 Reasons Why.
Veronica nearly has a threesome with the two Reggies.
There were flashbacks to earlier seasons, including a very season 1 and season 2 high school that even involved Mrs. Grundy, remember her? There was also a flashback to a dream Archie had about his wedding that included his dad, a beautiful way to feature the late Luke Perry.
Kailey Schwerman/The CW
That was a lot to take in for the 100th episode but we are finally back in Riverdale! Just what will happen next? The series won’t be returning until next year on a new night at a new time on Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on The CW, so hold on to your theories. Check out our Riverdale coverage in the meantime here.

Christmas came early today for fans of Apple TV+’s hit series Ted Lasso in the form of an animated holiday short — “The Missing Christmas Mustache.”
This heartwarming comedy series follows the story of a man named Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), a small-time college football coach from Kansas. When Ted receives a job offer to coach a struggling English football team in the UK, AFC Richmond, he hops on a plane to his next destination … despite the fact that he knows next to nothing about soccer. However, what Ted lacks in knowledge, he makes up for with his positive attitude and infectious enthusiasm.
The show’s second season recently finished airing, and it included a wonderfully festive special episode entitled, “Carol of the Bells.” However, it appears that wasn’t all the Christmas cheer the Ted Lasso team had up their sleeves, because our favorite characters are back for the holidays like we’ve never seen them before … animated!
If the animations here look familiar, it’s because this intro was originally seen in “Carol of the Bells.” Fans were left wondering if there would be more to that tease, since the normally solo Ted was flanked by Rebecca, Beard, Roy, Keeley, Jamie, Higgins, and Nate, and our wishes have absolutely been granted. Eagle-eyed viewers will notice that this short is meant to take place during the aforementioned Christmas episode, as everyone is wearing the same clothes.
Channeling the show’s signature brand of humor with an extra dash of chaos and holiday magic, “The Missing Christmas Mustache” is exactly the cheeky reminder we all need to “believe” during the holidays.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Ted Lasso are now streaming exclusively on Apple TV+, and a third season is on the way. In the meantime, catch up on all of our coverage, including episodic recaps, our season 2 review, the best season 1 Ted-isms, and a handy guide to convincing your friends, family, enemies, and even your barista to watch what’s arguably one of the best shows on television right now!
