Paul Holes Announces US Book Tour for Upcoming Book ‘Unmasked: My Life Solving America’s Cold Cases’

0

If you are a fan of true crime, we have good news for you!

Paul Holes, co-host of the podcast Jensen and Holes: The Murder Squad, is going on tour to celebrate the release of his upcoming memoir Unmasked: My Life Solving America’s Cold Cases.

Paul Holes is a former cold-case investigator and was involved in solving the Golden State Killer case. His new memoir is published by Celadon Books and will be released on April 26. The memoir will examine his career solving cold cases and the impact on his life:

I order another bourbon, neat. This is the drink that will flip the switch. I don’t even know how I got here, to this place, to this point. Something is happening to me lately. I’m drinking too much. My sheets are soaking wet when I wake up from nightmares of decaying corpses. I order another drink and swig it, trying to forget about the latest case I can’t shake.

Crime solving for me is more complex than the challenge of the hunt, or the process of piecing together a scientific puzzle. The thought of good people suffering drives me, for better or worse, to the point of obsession.

People always ask how I am able to detach from the horrors of my work. Part of it is an innate capacity to compartmentalize; the rest is experience and exposure, and I’ve had plenty of both. But I have always taken pride in the fact that I can keep my feelings locked up to get the job done. It’s only been recently that it feels like all that suppressed darkness is beginning to seep out.

When I look back at my long career, there is a lot I am proud of. I have caught some of the most notorious killers of the twenty-first century and brought justice and closure for their victims and families. I want to tell you about a lifetime solving these cold cases, from Laci Peterson to Jaycee Dugard to the Pittsburg homicides to, yes, my twenty-year-long hunt for the Golden State Killer.

But a deeper question eats at me as I ask myself, at what cost? I have sacrificed relationships, joy—even fatherhood—because the pursuit of evil always came first. Did I make the right choice? It’s something I grapple with every day. Yet as I stand in the spot where a young girl took her last breath, as I look into the eyes of her family, I know that, for me, there has never been a choice. “I don’t know if I can solve your case,” I whisper. “But I promise I will do my best.”

It is a promise I know I can keep.

Holes will be touring in US bookstores from April 26 to May 10. You can see all the dates below:

  • April 26: The Strand, New York City

‘Astrid & Lilly Save The World’ Recap: Season 1, Episode 1 “Tontoom”

0

Welcome to the premiere of Astrid & Lilly Save the World! Best friends Astrid (Jana Morrison) and Lilly (Samantha Aucoin) are just trying to navigate high school (Go Ferrets!), crushes, and home life. But all of that is about to change.

On a typical recon night, the girls are in Lilly’s car with their night vision goggles to watch and see what the cool kids do at night. They want not to be the outsiders anymore. “Does this make us creepy?” “No, this makes us Olivia Benson!”

House Party

Alex Stead/Blue Ice Pictures/SYFY

They find out about a house party, and Astrid convinces Lilly that they should go. They walk in and are handed a drink by Valerie (Christina Orjalo), a classmate, and are in awe that they could get in since they were not invited. Tate (Kolton Stewart), the guy whose house it is, sees them and starts calling them names like fat Astrid, monsters, and pudge patrol because they are both plus-size. Lilly is close to tears, but Astrid holds it together and takes her friend, and they leave. Astrid comforts her crying friend when they are in the car, reassuring her and calling them the monsters and “F those haters!”

What Portal?

To get rid of their feelings, they put a hacky sack that belonged to one of the “cool” kids and other things that they think will help it burn in a metal-looking bowl and set it on fire. They say things like wanting “Tate to disappear” and “F those haters” while they dance it out. They are even saying some words backward and howling at the moon to get how those people made them feel out. You know, totally normal teenager stuff. Suddenly, the sky gets a purple glow, and the moon turns purple as well. They think it is a cool coincidence and then go because of their curfew.

Monster Hunters!

Alex Stead/Blue Ice Pictures/SYFY

The next day at school, they hear that Tate is missing. Astrid and Lilly question if it was because of what they did but quickly shake the thought off. During the day, when the lightning flashes, Lilly’s leg keeps paining, and Astrid smells a horseradish scent when no one else does. Yup, still completely normal things.

Meanwhile, Tate and another girl are in an abandoned warehouse and uncontrollably crying with their tears going into a martini glass. Cut to Valerie, who is outside alone and hears a voice saying horrible things to her that makes her cry and takes her to the others.

When the girls go to the woods to investigate where Tate’s ID was found, they find some goo and what looks like a broken fingernail claw. Lilly’s leg starts to bother her again, and Astrid says she can smell burnt pickles when they hear rustling leaves. “I’m going to die at the hands of a hottie with a body;” that is Astrid’s first reaction to seeing Brutus (Olivier Renaud). He is there to be their “Giles” as they hunt down the monster body parts needed to close the portal that they opened. Oh, and the reason for the hurt leg and smelling of horseradish … is their powers being activated to help them in their monster hunter journey.

First Monster Kill

Alex Stead/Blue Ice Pictures/SYFY

Astrid and Lilly look for the first monster, whose name is Tear Jerker, because it will say the deepest darkest thing you do not want to hear about, feeding off your tears. After having an encounter where Lilly was almost taken, the girls put on comfy monster-hunting clothes and put what can kill the monster in a water gun. They even call themselves pudge patrol to take what those teenage monsters called them and use it to motivate themselves.

After getting over the shock that the monster is real, they plan and manage to kill their first monster and cut off its tongue, which is the body part needed from that monster to help close the portal. Plus, Astrid and Lilly saved both Valerie and Tate, being the badasses they are.

Angel of Mercy

Christine (Geri Hall) is the mother of one of their classmates Candace (Julia Doyle), and she is the leader of a youth church group. At the church, she prays for an angel of mercy to help get rid of a teacher encouraging her daughter to get into acting. Something appears saying that it will help her if she helps it. Somehow, I doubt this is an angel of mercy. Could this be the big bad of the season?

You can watch monster hunters Astrid & Lilly Save the World on SYFY at 10 p.m. ET every Wednesday. Check out our other Astrid & Lilly Save the World coverage here.

‘Resident Alien’ Recap: Season 2, Episode 1 “Old Friends”

The wait is finally over; the season 2 Resident Alien premiere is here!

Last we saw Harry Vanderspeigle (Alan Tudyk), he admitted to Asta (Sara Tomko) that he changed and decided to spare the human race because of her. Oh, and the pizza leftover in his freezer she can have. He was on his way back to his home planet, leaving Earth behind him. Well, that is until he discovered a stowaway. When Asta told Max (Judah Prehn) to hide, he chose to hide on “Harry’s” spaceship. Fans were left wondering what would happen as the alien said his favorite response: “This is some bullshit.”

I Am An Alien

James Dittiger/SYFY

They have gone from wanting to kill each other to becoming frenemies. Choosing to bring Max back to Earth, the alien crashes again. Back in the human form of Harry, he wakes up in the hospital after being found walking naked down the road with a head injury. When the attending nurse asks him questions and asks if he knows who he is, Harry is a bit too honest: “I am an alien. I am here to kill everyone.”

By the time Asta gets the call that he is in the hospital, he knows who he is. He is Detective Briscoe, Jerry Orbach’s character from Law & Order. This was after he drew where to find his planet on the whiteboard for the doctors and nurses, stole a stuffed octopus from a little girl, and tried to escape thinking it was his relative, and then was tackled and sedated.

The Excitement of Danger

After fending off intruders attempting to kidnap their son, Kate (Meredith Garretson) and her husband are both experiencing the emotional after-effects. Mayor Ben (Levi Fiehler) relishes having the townpeople praise and clap for him, giving him a masculine ego boost with confidence to stand up to the Sheriff. Back at their home, Kate cleans up the broken items and blood on the wall remembering the fight. She pushes a vase with flowers off the kitchen island, letting it break. The adrenaline from being in danger and having her husband take charge and fight to protect her turns her on. When the couple tells the Sheriff and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) what happened, hearing how her husband took control of the situation brings those feelings back. They talk dirty to each other and make out, forgetting they are in the Sheriff’s office.

Secrets

James Dittiger/SYFY

There seems to be quite a bit of secret in Patience. This episode gives a further glimpse into Sheriff Thompson (Corey Reynolds) and what may have brought him to the town. Plus, we see Asta keep a big secret from D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund) while admitting to another.

The sheriff’s father (Alvin Sanders) comes to visit his son because he knows that today will be hard on him. He tells Mike that he cannot run from it forever and that it has been six years since he died. At the same time, commenting on the second cup of coffee purchased for and in memory of that person.

Asta and D’Arcy ride “The Beast,” a tandem bike, laughing and having fun while reconnecting. D’Arcy says that she knows Asta’s secret. In a moment of panic, thinking it has to do with Harry, she calms slightly when D’Arcy says that she knows Jade (Kaylayla Raine) is her daughter. They have a beautiful heart-to-heart ending with Asta feeling guilt that she is still holding a big secret from her best friend.

Runaway Octopus

James Dittiger/SYFY

In hopes of jogging Harry’s memory, Asta takes him to the restaurant they go to for noodles. While there, his octopus (Nathan Fillion) cousin calls out to him. Realizing that he has lost his memory, the octopus brings Harry’s memory back in a mind-meld type connection and tells him that his people will be here soon to kill everyone. Wanting to protect Asta, he grabs the octopus in a panic and runs out of the restaurant. At least this one is not a stuffed animal.

It looks like the human race is not in the clear just yet.

You can watch Resident Alien every Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on SYFY. Check out our other Resident Alien coverage here.

‘The Book of Boba Fett’: Our Favorite Moments From “The Return of the Mandalorian”

Warning: Spoilers ahead for ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ episode 5.

It feels like a lifetime since we last saw Pedro Pascal’s beloved Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin on our television screens — or December 18, 2020, to be exact. Following The Mandalorian‘s epic, mind-blowing season 2 finale, the series went on a hiatus as The Book of Boba Fett took over its normal end of the year premiere slot on Disney+ in 2021.

Picking up where the aforementioned show left off, The Book of Boba Fett has worked to pull back the curtain on fan-favorite character Boba Fett, including an explanation as to what happened after he tumbled to his supposed death in the Sarlacc pit in Return of the Jedi. The delayed return of Din Djarin was a tough pill to swallow, but the story of Boba Fett has been a long time coming. Despite his overall lack of screen time in the films, the infamous bounty hunter has had a rapid fan following for decades.

Still from The Mandalorian
Lucasfilm

Patience pays off, though. With the same creative team for The Mandalorian holding the reigns for The Book of Boba Fett, the series was bound to come bearing surprises. At the end of episode 4, “The Gathering Storm,” Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were discussing their need for help against the Pyke Syndicate. Fennec noted, “Credits can buy muscle if you know where to look,” which was followed by the iconic notes of Din Djarin’s theme. From the get-go, we were all hoping to see a cameo from the Mandalorian in the show, but “Return of the Mandalorian” was even better than anyone could have ever expected. Like a gift from a galaxy far, far away for all of us who have been seriously missing Din, episode 5 was — essentially — just an episode of The Mandalorian.

Taking place sometime in the aftermath of Din’s tearful goodbye when he handed over Grogu to Luke Skywalker, “Return of the Mandalorian” details what he’s been up to as he settles back into the life of a childless bounty hunter. In celebration of this epic episode, we’ve gone through and listed some of the best moments from Din Djarin’s return.

“I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold.”

Lucasfilm

If you didn’t get chills when Din repeated his iconic line that started it all in the first episode of The Mandalorian, you’re lying. The opening scene contained other callbacks to the episode as well: Din walking through the plastic curtains mirrored his entrance in the bar on Pagodon (where he spoke the aforementioned line to his bounty). And when the Klatooinians surrounded him, it was reminiscent of when Din was surrounded by stormtroopers when he went to accept his next job from the Client (at which point he said, “I like those odds.”)

Din wields the Darksaber

The same scene confirmed that not only did Din hold onto the Darksaber after besting Moff Gideon in battle, but he has chosen to start fighting with it himself as well. Fans wondered if there was a chance we would see a glimpse of the weapon in The Book of Boba Fett, so it was satisfying to see it immediately from the start (and a nice added touch watching his silhouette extinguish it from behind the curtains after the fight).

The return of the Armorer and Paz Viszla

After the battle on Nevarro in The Mandalorian season 1, where the Mandalorians revealed themselves to help with the rescue of Grogu, Moff Gideon’s troops massacred the Tribe. Din manages to find their new covert on another planet, and the Armorer and Paz Viszla are the only two that remain as they work to rebuild.

A gift for Grogu

After the Armorer chides him for carrying a beskar spear, because it has the ability to pierce through beskar armor (despite the fact that it can also block a lightsaber blade), Din asks her to forge it into something for a foundling. But not just any foundling … Grogu. The final product isn’t shown, but it appears that it’s likely a piece of armor made from beskar chainmail. And if you were paying close attention, you’ll notice the cloth bag resembles the shape of Grogu’s head!

“Din Djarin”

For those that didn’t catch that 2019 Pedro Pascal interview where he revealed it early (oops), fans had to wait until the season 1 finale of The Mandalorian to find out that his character’s name is Din Djarin. (We all also finally learned how to spell it that day as well — remember the days of Dyn Jarren?) Din holds his name close to his chest, and thus everyone on the show generally refers to him as the Mandalorian or “Mando.” Give the infrequent use of his real name, it was exciting to hear the Armorer refer to him not once, but twice, as Din Djarin.

Din beats Paz Viszla in battle

From the moment that Din pulls out the Darksaber, Paz’s body language is immediately on edge. The Darksaber was created by his ancestor — Tarre Vizsla, a Mandalorian and a Jedi — and thus he feels entitled to it. Din is sparring with the Armorer, who is trying to teach him how to properly wield the Darksaber instead of struggling to control it, when Paz challenges him to a fight for the blade. It’s a harrowing battle, and thing’s aren’t looking good when Paz gets his hands on the Darksaber, but he’s not able to control it either. Din eventually gains the upper hand and bests him, retaining his ownership of the weapon.

A Mandalorian no longer

Starting with the necessary removal of his helmet at the end of season 1 of The Mandalorian, Din has found himself conflicted and confused about the Mandalorian Creed. Meeting Bo-Katan Kryze, Axe Woves, and Koska Reeves on Trask turned his world upside down when they removed their helmets without a second thought. Bo-Katan informed Din that he was a Child of the Watch, which she called a cult of religious zealots that broke away from Mandalorian society. Season 2 then saw Din remove his helmet two more times — during the mission on Morak and for his emotional goodbye with Grogu.

Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian
Lucasfilm

So when the Armorer asks Din if he has ever removed his helmet, he’s silent for a moment before he admits that he has. Immediately, she tells him that he is no longer a Mandalorian, and the only way he can redeem himself (as per the Creed) is in the living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore, which were destroyed. This was a bittersweet moment for viewers, because it was likely difficult for Din to be cast out by his people and the way of life that he was raised with from a young age. But on the opposite end of the spectrum, this now gives him so much room to grow, develop, and change as a character. Looking toward season 3 of The Mandalorian, we will likely see Din try to decide between fighting for his past or moving forward (and hey, another glimpse at Pascal’s face under the helmet wouldn’t hurt.)

“I’m a Mandalorian. Weapons are part of my religion.”

Sorry Din, but that excuse won’t help you get on a commercial flight. Watching Din huff and puff in annoyance as he’s forced to remove all of his various weapons to be stowed away for the journey was easily one of the most humorous moments from the episode — “I know everything that’s in there” — though it was also quite nerve-wracking to see him temporarily let go of the Darksaber.

The Mandalorian does public transit

Alright, did anyone have “Din Djarin forlornly staring out the window into the depths of space as he’s forced to take public transit” on their bingo card?

A BD unit appears!

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order still
Lucasfilm/Electronic Arts

First revealed in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, BD units are explorer droids. Players were introduced to the adorable BD-1, who accompanies the main character Cal Kestis on his journey. While this type of droid has since made a few comic appearances, today’s episode marked the first live-action appearance of one! This particular unit works with Peli Motto at her hangar on Mos Eisley. While it doesn’t quite appear to be the BD-1, this droid was just as endearing (especially as it tried to assist Din with its light while he worked on the starfighter).

N-1 starfighter

NABOO N-1 STARFIGHTER
Lucasfilm

Also known as the Naboo starfighter, an old, scrapped N-1 ended up being Peli Motto’s substitute ship for Din Djarin in the wake of the destruction of his beloved Razor Crest. As per Peli Motto, these ships were handmade for the royal guard and commissioned personally by the Queen of Naboo. This moment was a fun callback to the prequel trilogy, as the ships were first seen in The Phantom Menace (and later edited into Return of the Jedi).

Peli Motto dates Jawas

“Very furry.” Enough said.

“Dank Farrik, she’s fast. And as smooth as a gonk’s scomp jack.”

While Din is initially apprehensive about the starfighter, he warms to the ship after Peli explains all of the various benefits of flying with it. And it’s fast. Very fast. As an added bonus, Peli did away with the need for an astromech on the ship. So the little compartment behind Din is obviously the perfect seat for Grogu (although he’s going to need to figure out a way to clean him up if he throws up mid-flight again).

Captain Carson Teva

While zipping through space to test drive his new ship, Din is stopped by two New Republic X-wing pilots, one of which is none other than Captain Carson Teva (who first appeared in The Mandalorian). What follows is an amusing exchange as he recognizes Din’s voice (how could you forget it?), at which point he decides that he wants to bring him in for questioning, but the bounty hunter takes off in the blink of an eye.

Din agrees to help Boba Fett and Fennec Shand

Ming-Na Wen in The Book of Boba Fett
Lucasfilm

When Din returns from his test flight, Fennec Shand is waiting for him at Peli’s hangar. She asks if he’s looking for work, and she tosses him a bag of credits as payment. However, when she tells him that she and Boba Fett just need him as muscle, Din hands the payment back and tells her it’s on the house. Boba Fett and Fennec Shand were key in assisting Din with rescuing Grogu in season 2, so it’s no surprise that he would opt to help his friends free of charge.

“But first, I got to pay a visit to a little friend.”

After Din tells the Armorer that he wants to forge something for Grogu, she reminds him that Jedi must forego all attachments when training to master the ways of the Force. Din has trouble reconciling with this, because it goes directly against the Mandalorian Creed. The fact of the matter is, he wants to see him and make sure he’s safe. He may be a Jedi in-training under the wing of Luke Skywalker himself, but he’ll always be Din’s tiny green sidekick.

Lucasfilm

Hopefully, we’ll get a glimpse of Grogu in the next episode (Jon Favreau, I am begging you.) But beyond that, does anyone else feel robbed that we didn’t get to witness Boba Fett interact with the Child? After seeing what a soft pushover he is for the various creatures in The Book of Boba Fett — including his new pet rancor — the world deserves nothing more than to see him go full “Uncle Boba Fett” with Grogu.

Don’t miss the next episode of The Book of Boba Fett when it premieres exclusively on Disney+ on Wednesday, February 2!

‘Naomi’ Recap: Season 1, Episode 3 “Zero to Sixty”

On this week’s Naomi, Naomi begins her training with Dee. However, she’d much rather go find the mysterious disc. When she does, though, trouble follows. Read on to find out what happens in “Zero to Sixty.”

A Recovery Mission

The CW

Naomi begins training with Dee and tries to get more information about the markings she saw on the disc and at the warehouse. He won’t tell her and adds that Zumbado isn’t a good source. So, Naomi finds a different way. She and Annabelle head to small shop where they use a ruse regarding Zumbado to get a woman – Mrs. Anderson – to confront Zumbado about a discount she didn’t get. They all go together, and Mrs. Anderson and Zumbado look at another car. While Zumbado is distracted, Naomi breaks into the safe using her powers and grabs the disc. Zumbado returns and looks suspicious, but he says nothing.

College Week

naomi season 1 episode 3
Danny Delgado/The CW

As the kids head to their next college tour, Naomi and Annabelle show the disc to Jacob. He’s fascinated by it and expresses he wants to analyze. So, during their next tour they – along with Anthony, Nathan, and Lourdes – sneak off to the university’s geology lab. They analyze the disc with some type of laser machine. However, the disc provides absolutely no data. Shortly after, the disc causes the machine to explode and triggers the fire alarm. When Naomi tries to grab the disc before leaving, it’s gone.

Back at the high school, the kids await their punishment. Jen exits the front office and pulls Naomi aside. She’s disappointed and doesn’t understand why Naomi did this. Naomi can’t give her a clear answer (yet).

The Real Disc

naomi season 1 episode 3
The CW

Zumbado meets with another alien named Akira. She’s adamant they stay away from Naomi. He disagrees. After his encounter with Naomi and Annabelle, he checks his safe. He knows a disc is missing, but the real one was in a secret compartment. As the kids test their disc, Zumbado attaches the real one to a device and it begins to glow. He meets with Akira again to show her the disc. Zumbado says he wants to reunite the disc with Naomi; she’s the key. Akira is distrustful, though, and disagrees.

Naomi and Dee Seek Help

During the next training session, Naomi tells Dee about the disc. While he still thinks it’s not a good idea to search for it, he knows someone – Adam Blake – who can help. They go see Adam, who can sense the disc’s energy within Naomi. While they talk, a special ops team bursts in, and Naomi and Dee run. When they return to the shop, Dee thinks Naomi still isn’t ready to use her powers. Naomi thinks she is, and she wants to find the disc.

Naomi’s parents are waiting for her, upset, when she gets home. She claims she was with Lourdes, who happened to call earlier asking about Naomi. Her parents ground her, and Naomi doesn’t understand why when they’ve always treated her like an adult. They give a clear answer, and Naomi relinquishes her phone.

Finding the Key

naomi season 1 episode 3
The CW

Lourdes sneaks into Naomi’s room with Zatanna comics in tow, as well as an apology about blowing Naomi’s cover. She also gives Naomi a nudge on her college essay topic. When she leaves, Naomi uses the comic to help her work out where the translation key for the disc might be. As she sneaks out, she runs into Annabelle. The two head to the underground bomb shelter. They find the key, and Naomi uses her powers to dislodge it. However, she causes the tunnel to collapse.

Naomi goes to Dee and tells him what happens. Then, she says she was able to translate the disc. It said, “the twenty-nine,” and the next shot reveals Zumbado has a list in his notebook with that as the heading. He crosses out Akira’s name.

More Truth Is Revealed

Naomi works on her essay, and in voiceover, she talks about how change has affected her. In the morning she tells her parents she wants to be honest with them. It turns out they also have something to tell her, too. While driving, Greg tells Naomi that the military is hunting aliens and he and Jen need to show Naomi something. When they reach the woods, they show her a spot with a large round object – the place they found her. Naomi touches it, and it lights up with markings similar to the disc.

Naomi airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on The CW, available the next day on The CW app and cwtv.com. Keep up with our weekly recaps and other coverage here.

Over the past few months, Kung Fu fans have received tidbits about the show’s upcoming sophomore season, premiering on March 9. More content has just been dropped into our laps in the form of a trailer for season 2! You can check out the Kung Fu season 2 trailer, exclusively released by ET, below.

The video is jam-packed with action sequences giving audiences a glimpse of what Nicky and the rest of the crew will be up to: taking down Kerwin Tan. We also get our first glimpse at Vanessa Yao as Mia, Mei-Xue’s daughter and the Shen siblings’ cousin — but it’s no warm and fuzzy meeting as the two exchange blows. As hinted at the end of last season, it seems that Russell Tan and Mia’s stories will be intertwined this season as the elder Tan searches for another way to rise to power.

There is still a lot up in the air concerning what’s going on with Nicky, the situation with Biange, and how the villains of season 1 will be dealt with. Luckily, this trailer seems to promise an exciting season in which our questions will be answered. Kung Fu returns to The CW on March 9 in the same timeslot as last year. Keep an eye out for more content coming your way soon and makes sure to check out the Kung Fu season 2 trailer above.

You can catch Kung Fu on Wednesday nights in its new time slot at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on The CW. As always, make sure to stay up to date with all of our coverage here, and stay tuned for more updates!

It looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer to catch up on the comings and goings of the Crawley family, because the release date for Downton Abbey: A New Era has been pushed forward again! Originally scheduled to release in December 2021, the film was later moved to March 18, 2022. Now, the latest news is that audiences won’t be able to catch the highly anticipated sequel film until May 20.

While the film’s official synopsis has not yet been released, the teaser trailer (released last November) sees Lady Violet reflect back on a man that she once knew. Now, it appears that she has come into possession of a villa in the south of France.

The original principal cast of Downton Abbey is set to return for the film, as well as newcomers Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, Dominic West, and Jonathan Zaccaï.

Downton‘s creator, Academy Award winner Julian Fellowes, returns to write the film’s screenplay, with Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge back to produce. Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) serves as director.

The original Downton Abbey television series had a six-season run that began in 2010, covering the years 1912 through 1926. The historical drama told the story of the British aristocratic Crawley family and their servants. The show’s first film, which was also called Downton Abbey, detailed a visit by the King and Queen to the Crawley’s English country house in the Yorkshire countryside in 1927.

In the meantime, you can enter to win a trip to the North American premiere of Downton Abbey: A New Era, where you’ll meet the cast and receive a signed script! Go here for more information. The sweepstakes, which supports Together for Short Lives, closes on February 19.

Don’t miss Downton Abbey: A New Era when it finally arrives in theaters on May 20.
