‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’: The Crawleys Are Back in New Teaser Trailer!
The latest chapter in the lives of the Crawley family is coming, and the first official teaser trailer has just arrived!
Downton Abbey: A New Era picks back up where the first film left off, which premiered several years after the six-season series came to an end. Set in the early 1900s, Downton Abbey follows the lives of the British aristocratic Crawley family and their servants.
Watch the trailer below.
The film’s plot has mostly been kept under wraps, but at one point in the trailer, Lady Violet reflects back on a man from her past. She explains that she’s now come into possession of a villa in the south of France. Paired with Mr. Carson’s comment that “the British are coming,” it would seem as if the Crawleys and their staff may be taking a trip.
The sequel film will reunite the original principal cast, and new additions will include Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, Dominic West, and Jonathan Zaccaï. A character list was released alongside the trailer (from which Henry Talbot is noticeably absent).
Downton‘s creator, Academy Award winner Julian Fellowes, returns to write the film’s screenplay, with Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge back to produce. Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) serves as director.
Downton Abbey: A New Era will hit theaters on March 18, 2022.
