Netflix’s adaptation of Nimona is just under three weeks away, and Netflix has finally unveiled the biggest look yet. Previously, viewers got a little taste of what to expect from the teaser trailer and the first clip from the feature. Now, the official trailer is finally here. Netflix debuted it during this year’s Annecy International Film Festival.
Based on ND Stevenson’s graphic novel of the same name, Nimona follows Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed), a knight who is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. Naturally, he’s determined to prove his innocence and clear his name, but the only person who can help him is a mischievous, shape-shifting teen named Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz). However, with the entire kingdom against him, Ballister has no choice but to work with Nimona.
Similar to the footage before it, the trailer offers a look at Nimona’s shape-shifting mayhem as she and Boldheart traverse the kingdom to find the real villain behind the frame job. It showcases more of Nimona’s different forms, from a massive whale to a small kitten and everything in between. Additionally, the trailer gives viewers the first look at Boldheart’s confidante-turned-enemy Ambrosius Goldenlion (Eugene Lee Yang).
Nimona was directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, with Karen Ryan and Julie Zackary as producers. Additional voice cast includes Frances Conroy, Beck Bennett, Lorraine Toussaint, RuPaul Charles, and Indya Moore.
Nimona premieres June 30 on Netflix. Watch the official trailer below:
