The long-awaited adaptation of ND Stevenson’s Nimona is finally in its release month, and Netflix is keeping excitement high. Following the first teaser’s release, the streamer shared a new clip from the animated movie and announced that the trailer is releasing next week.
Adapted from Stevenson’s graphic novel, Nimona follows Ballister Boldheart, a villain who is framed for something he didn’t do (seriously). So, he sets out to clear his name, but the only way to do so is by teaming up with a young shapeshifter named Nimona — whom Boldheart is trained to destroy. However, with the entire kingdom against him, he has no choice but to enlist Nimona.
The clip focuses on Boldheart and Nimona’s first meeting, in which Nimona’s chaotic energy is already on display. When Nimona arrives to Boldheart’s lair, she hands in her “résumé” for a job that Boldheart seems utterly unaware of. Still, he parses through Nimona’s makeshift application, which features a series of drawings with Nimona in various forms wreaking havoc.
Nimona is directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, with Karen Ryan and Julie Zackary as producers. The voice cast includes Chlöe Grace Moretz as Nimona, Riz Ahmed as Boldheart, Eugene Lee Yang as Ambrosius Goldenlion, Frances Conroy, Beck Bennett, Lorraine Toussaint, RuPaul Charles, and Indya Moore.
Nimona premieres June 30 on Netflix. Watch the clip below:
