After years of waiting, the official teaser for Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is here.

The series will follow the Second Age of Middle-earth. The Second Age was transformative for Middle-earth, with the creation of the Rings of Power being one of the many events of this period. Recently, Amazon confirmed that the elves Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) will be focal points of the series, in much younger forms. The series will always introduce characters new to Middle-earth, including the human Halbrand (Charlie Vickers) who will rescue Galadriel lost at sea, the Silvan elf Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova), the Dwarven princess Disa (Sophia Nomvete), who will be the two first people of color in Middle-earth, and a human healer Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi).

The series has already been renewed for a second season and has a five-season minimum, leaving plenty of time to explore the many events of Middle-earth’s Second Age. Other events of the Second Age include the rise and fall of the great kingdom of Men, Númenor, as well as the Last Alliance of Elves and Men at Barad-dûr, which would then usher in the Third Age after the defeat of Sauron.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1 releases exclusively on Prime Video September 2. Check out the recently released 23 character posters, too!
