Prime Video Releases New Posters for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’

With seven months to go until release, Prime Video has released 23 posters teasing its array of characters for their upcoming series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

The plot is still largely under wraps, with only the character of Sauron firmly confirmed to return, with Elrond and Galadriel heavily rumored to also be featured in much younger roles. The series will focus on the Second Age of Middle-earth, which featured the creation of the Rings of Power, including the One Ring, and ended with the Last Alliance of Elves and Men at Barad-dûr and the defeat of the Dark Lord. The rise and fall of the great kingdom of men in Númenor was also a defining event during these times.

Both Lady Galadriel and Lord Elrond were alive and well in the Second Age, with Galadriel being the keeper of the Ring of Power, Nenya, and Elrond coming to be the keeper of Vilya late in the Second Age (and through the Third) after Gil-galad. So, while they aren’t explicitly confirmed, it would be a great veer from canon to not see either of these well-known characters, especially with Elrond leading troops in the Last Alliance. Also, while Gandalf is a keeper of the third Elven Ring, Narya, he does not come to hold it until the Third Age, when the Wizards arrived in Middle-earth (so no, don’t expect Gandalf to make an appearance).

Speculation of who these characters in the posters are is high! A few we’re betting on are the elves Galadriel, Elrond, Gil-galad, and Celebrimbor, and the first king of Númenor and Elrond’s brother who opted for mortality, Elros to be a few!

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on September 2.
