Prime Video has released the official trailer for their reimagining of ’80s cult classic Road House, which is set for a streaming release this Spring.
The remake stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a former UFC fighter, Dalton, who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise. The original film starred Patrick Swayze as Dalton, a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest, loudest bars in Missouri, The Double Deuce. Swayze’s character is put to the test when he needs to protect the town from a corrupt businessman.
The official synopsis for the reimagining reads:
“In this adrenaline-fueled reimagining of the 80s cult classic, ex-UFC fighter Dalton (Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is not all it seems. Prepare for legendary fights, brutal bloodshed, massive explosions, epic boat chases, and jolts of mischief. Set to deliver first-rate action with some playful surprises along the way.”
Road House also stars Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almedia, Lukas Gage, Arturo Castro, B.K. Cannon, Beau Knapp, Darren Barnet, and MMA fighter Conor McGregor in his first movie role.
The film is directed by Doug Liman from a script written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. Joel Silver is producing for his company, Silver Pictures, returning to the classic film after serving as the producer on the original 1989 rendition. JJ Hook, Alison Winter, and Aaron Auch will serve as executive producers.
