Disney Parks Announces ‘New Adventures with Tiana’ Ride to Replace Splash Mountain!

Disney Parks announced today that Disney’s Splash Mountain ride will soon be getting a makeover! The ride will now be called “New Adventures with Tiana” and follow Disney Princess Tiana (The Princess and the Frog) and her prince Naveen after the events of the film. The ride will feature some of the movie’s iconic songs and lead up to a Mardi Gras performance. The change has been in development since last year. This new story will be in place at both Disneyland and Disney World.

The actress behind Tiana, Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose, said in a statement:

It is really exciting to know that Princess Tiana’s presence in both Disneyland and Magic Kingdom will finally be fully realized! As passionate as I am about what we created, I know the fans are going to be over the moon. The Imagineers are giving us ‘The Princess and the Frog’ Mardi Gras celebration we’ve been waiting for, and I’m here for it!

There is no word yet on when the changes will be implemented, but concept art has been created and the Imagineers (led by Charita Carter) are busy working on a timeline for transforming the ride.
