Eric Roberts Is Back as The Master in New Big Finish Story

In the Doctor Who TV movie, Eric Roberts played The Master opposing the Eighth Doctor, portrayed by Paul McGann. Since then, Roberts played The Doctor’s nemesis in two Big Finish stories: The Diary of River Song Volume Five and Doctor Who: Ravenous 4.

Big Finish announced on Friday that Roberts is set to portray the villain again in a new box set called Master! to be released in March 2021:

Abandoned in the Vortex, the Master’s lost incarnation is about to be thrown a lifeline. 

Earth rebuilds in the aftermath of invasion, and power rests with those who innovate. Genius Lila Kreeg makes a deal with the devil to see her dreams fulfilled. 

As the Master returns, there are those – like Vienna Salvatori – who wish to hunt him, and those upon whom he wishes vengeance himself…

In these new stories, Roberts will be joined by Chase Masterson (Vienna Salvatori). Bounty hunter Vienna Salvatori appeared for the first time in Big Finish’s Doctor Who: The Shadow Heart and had since earned her own spin-off series.

Master! is composed of three stories:

1. Faustian by Robert Valentine

2. Prey by Robert Whitelock

3. Vengeance by Matt Fitton

Roberts will also reprise his role of The Master in a special release called Masterful that will reunite all the incarnations of The Master. It will be released in January 2021 to mark the 50th anniversary of the first apparition of The Master.
