Watch David Tennant Return as the Doctor in Trailer for ‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Specials

The titles have been announced for the three upcoming Doctor Who specials, all celebrating the 60th anniversary for the series, with a trailer featuring the return of David Tennant as the Doctor. Catherine Tate is also featured in the trailer in her return as Donna Noble, one of the tenth Doctor’s companions.

The specials, which are set to premiere in November, are titled The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder, and The Giggle. New additions to the franchise Yasmin Finney and Neil Patrick Harris are also showcased in the trailer.

Tennant’s main run for the series was from 2005-2010 as the tenth incarnation of the infamous time lord, with a brief return to the character in 2013 for the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor. The Doctor’s reincarnation with Tennant’s face marks the first time the same actor has played two incarnations of the character, making him both the tenth and fourteenth Doctor.

He takes over for the thirteenth, Jodie Whittaker, and will pass the torch to the fifteenth, Ncuti Gatwa. Gatwa’s run as the Doctor is also set to begin later this year.

The specials will premiere on BBC in the U.K. and Ireland, and will be available internationally on Disney+. Watch the trailer for the Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials below, and stay tuned for updates.
