Happy Pokémon Day, trainers! Exciting news is afoot, as a new game was announced during this morning’s Pokémon Presents livestream — Pokémon Legends: Z–A.
“A new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokémon.“
Though we haven’t seen it with more recent games in the franchise, it used to be typical for a third, more refined game to come out in the years following the dual release from each generation (Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, etc.). Following the 2013 release of the sixth generation titles, X and Y, fans have long-since speculated if Z would ever see the light of day. Now, it appears that trainers will finally have a chance to return to the Kalos region and Lumiose City.
While no substantial information has been revealed about the upcoming game beyond the teaser trailer and a brief synopsis, we can only assume that its gameplay mechanics will hopefully be similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The 2022 release was a critically acclaimed hit for the franchise, drawing in fans new and old with an exciting new way to experience the world of Pokémon.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set for a worldwide release on Nintendo Switch in 2025.
