Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Releases First Trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures

Westerns are officially making a comeback! Kevin Costner took a leap of faith in making Horizon: An American Saga, and from the looks of this first trailer, it has paid off.

When the trailer begins, it shows how grand and epic the scenery will be in this film. Horizon: An American Saga gives the feeling of the old-fashioned Westerns that kept audiences on the edge of their seats with gun fights, drama, and romance. While bringing aspects from the old movie themes, Costner brings a new outlook on how to tell the story of the American West.

Horizon: An American Saga follows several families as they head west in an attempt to settle and make homes for themselves. Audiences will see all stages of the journey, from the wagon trains, settling homesteads, interactions with the Native Americans, and the Civil War. This film is the first chapter in what hopefully will be a four-chapter series of movies. These films will cover 30 years and will show life before, during, and after the Civil War. The first chapter in the Horizon Saga will premiere on June 28, while chapter 2 will debut on August 16. The last two films have yet to begin filming.

Costner takes the lead in the saga while joined by an immensely talented cast including Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella Hunt, and Jamie Campbell Bower.

Horizon: An American Saga premieres in theaters on June 28. You can watch the first full trailer below, and find more information on the film’s official website can be found here.
