Hasbro unveiled a new Dungeons & Dragons board game at Gen Con, the largest tabletop gaming convention in North America. With the tagline “The Strategy Game of Famished Beasts and Fantastic Feasts,” The Yawning Portal board game is now available for preorder.
Whether you’re an experienced Dungeons & Dragons player or a newcomer, The Yawning Portal board game is a new experience in the world that will bring the whole family to the table.
Based in Dungeons & Dragons’ iconic The Yawning Portal inn and tavern, located in the city of Waterdeep, this tabletop game will allow you to play as the inn’s staff. Your job as a server is to keep The Yawning Portal’s hungry, eccentric visitors fed while they tell epic stories about their adventures across the realms. From the official description by Hasbro:
“As part of the tavern’s staff, feed them by matching up food tokens with the orders pictured on their Hero card. Earn colored gems (and points) for every matching food token, or a bonus for completing an order. Collect more points if you’re the first to achieve an Objective challenge or earn an endgame bonus. The player with the most points at the end wins! But there’s a twist-the colored gems that appear most frequently on the board receive the highest point value. So, strategize to tip the scoring scale in your favor. This D&D game makes a great gift for D&D fans and beginners alike, and it’s an exciting game for Family Game Night.”
