A new trailer has been released for the upcoming movie Minions: The Rise of Gru. The movie is an origin story that predates the Despicable Me movies.
Before he became the character we know and love, Gru is a 12-year-old boy in the 1970s. We will find out how Gru came across his Minions, including Kevin, Stuart, Bob and new character Otto (a brace-wearing Minion with a need to please).
Gru will also find himself going head to head with the supervillain supergroup, the Vicious 6. After they get rid of their leader, martial arts fighter Wild Knuckles, Gru tries and fails to become their newest member. However, in the process becomes their enemy. “With Gru on the run, the Minions attempt to master the art of kung fu to help save him, and Gru discovers that even bad guys need a little help from their friends.”
The movie sees the return of Steve Carell as Gru, Russell Brand as Young Dr. Nefario and Julie Andrews as Gru’s mother. They are joined by lots of new cast members including Alan Arkin, Taraji P. Henson, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless, Dolph Lundgren and Danny Trejo as the Vicious 6 and Michelle Yeoh as Master Chow.
Minions: The Rise of Gru will be released in theaters July 1. Make sure you check it out!
