Just when you thought Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) was going to be trouble enough to The Boys, Amazon’s hit dark series based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s Comic series, created by showrunner Eric Kripke and producer Seth Rogan will add a trio of cast members to season 3. All three characters are original to the Prime TV series and were not in the original comic series thus we are unsure of their exact powers. The trio is Miles Gaston Villanueva, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Nick Wechsler. They will be added to the hugely talented cast including Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Antony Starr (Homelander), Jack Quaid (Hughie), Erin Moriarty (Starlight), Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk), Jessie Usher (A-Train), Dominique McElligott (Queen Maeve), Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir), Chase Crawford (The Deep), Tomer Kapon (Frenchie), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko). Season 3 will also include Jensen Ackles (Soldier Boy) who is in the original comic series.

Now where have I seen those actors before?

The trio of trouble cast members are Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic, Sean Patrick Flanery as Gun Powder, and Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk.

The CW

Miles Gaston Villanueva is known for his roles in Law and Order True Crime, The Menendez Brothers as Lyle Menendez, and Nancy Drew as Owen. He is playing Supersonic which, according to EW, might have a power related to Supersonic screaming. It is rumored that he was an old boyfriend of Starlight (Erin Moriarty).

Showtime

Sean Patrick Flanery will play Gunpowder and is known for his role as Connor MacManus in Boondock Saints and Jacob Elway in Season 13 of Dexter. He also played Noah in Ten Inch Hero along with Jensen Ackles. Flanery is rumored to have powers related to weapons. Again the exact powers for the trio are unknown because these characters are wholly original to the Amazon series.

NBC/Matt Dinerstein

Lastly, Nick Wechsler will be joining the cast as Blue Hawk. Most recently he had a role in the Apple series, For All Mankind as Fred and also starred in This Is Us as Ryan Sharp, and Revenge as Jack Porter.

The Boys is a dark satire on the Superhero genre where “supes” are by no means heroes and use their powers for personal gain and political clout. Created by Vought International, a company, using a formula called “V”, their abuse of power goes unfettered until a small group band together to stop them.

Adding these three supes along with Soldier Boy, the series creators and Amazon are betting you’ll tune in to see the chaos and gore they will create. Teasing fans throughout the past two weeks before the announcement, the crew and showrunner Eric Kripke have consistently given one message as to the shocking nature of season 3, “You’re not ready.” Keep an eye out here for new information on The Boys as it becomes available.
