Lou Diamond Phillips Invites Fans To Join Him at This Year’s Ed Asner Celebrity Poker Night
Lou Diamond Phillips (Prodigal Son) has announced that he will be participating in this year’s online Ed Asner Celebrity Poker Night and invites fans to join — either to watch or play.
This will be the 9th Annual Ed Asner & Friends Poker Tournament, a game that helps raise funds for the Ed Asner Family Center which acts as an all-encompassing resource for special needs families, creating an oasis of thought, interaction, acceptance and education. The game will take place on June 12 at 5 p.m. PT virtually via a new cutting edge platform that allows you to see and talk to the celebrities in real time, but if you are not up to playing the virtual game yourself you can catch all the action live on YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter.
Asner has enjoy a professional career in Hollywood for more that 70 years and has been a poker enthusiast for nearly as long, having started playing with fellow actors on Sunday nights in the 1950s. Poker players who sign up for his tournament will have the opportunity to play cards with celebrities including Lou Diamond Phillips, Anna Paquin, Haley Joel Osment, Willie Garson, and Ed Asner himself plus a few pros and a whole host of other notable names. Space for players is limited, and as of June 9 there are only 60 seats left. The buy-in for the tournament is $250, although you can purchase a buy-in plus a heavily discounted re-buy right off the bat for $300. You can register for the tournament here.
If you are not interested in playing but would like to contribute to the Ed Asner Family Center, you can find a donation link at the bottom of this page. You can also find all the nitty gritty details about the event, including a more complete list of celebrity guests at that same link.
So make sure to join Lou Diamond Phillips and many, many others this Saturday as they get together to have fun for a great cause.
