‘Gossip Girl’ Reboot Trailer Boasts Big Secrets, Privilege and Power

“Did you miss me? I know I’ve missed you.”
HBO Max has released the official trailer for Gossip Girl ahead of its premiere next month. Taking place eight years after the end of the original and when the original website went dark, the teens will balance life at New York private school while also keeping up their social personas. Social media has undergone a huge cultural shift since we last saw the Upper Eastsiders as well as the New York landscape — all will be addressed in time.
Set to Frank Ocean’s “Super Rich Kids,” the trailer gives a deeper look at some of the crew, who have been best friends since childhood. Enter Zoya (Whitney Peak), a Jenny Humphrey type that they’ve taken under their wing. Soon she finds herself in the middle of a love triangle when she gets closer to Otto (Eli Brown), who is Julien’s (Jordan Alexander) boyfriend. The blog has now been turned into an Instagram account, because, like we said above, social media has evolved heavily. The premise is still the same: the teens at St Jude’s and Constance Billard are not safe from prying eyes.
Gossip Girl also stars Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe, Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope, Zion Moreno as Luna La, Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller, Savannah Lee Smith as Monet de Haan, and Evan Mock as Aki Menzies.
Alongside Bell returning as the Gossip Girl voice, Josh Safran is returning as showrunner, and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are returning as executive producers.

Gossip Girl premieres on HBO Max on July 8.
