The Suicide Squad writer/director James Gunn has shared a new look at the upcoming film. Shared via Twitter, the photo features Task Force X members Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), and The Thinker (Peter Capaldi). The group appears to be inside of a bar, and they’ve changed out of their usual identifying gear for a more casual feel.
The Suicide Squad follows the DC villains who are in Belle Reve prison, where the worst of the worst supervillains are housed — and they’ll do anything to get out. The group is on its way to becoming members of the secret Task Force X. The team is sent to Corto Maltese and is tasked with a mission that will have them trekking through the heavily guarded jungle with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces.
The film also stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman as Colonel Rick Flag, Michael Rooker as Savant, Pete Davidson as Black Guard, Flula Borg as Javelin, Mayling Ng as Mongal, Alice Braga as SolSoria, Sean Gunn as Weasel, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and John Cena as Peacemaker.
The Suicide Squad is set for release on August 6 in theaters and on HBO Max.
