‘Luther: The Fallen Sun’ Will Get Theatrical Release

In a surprise and welcome announcement for fans of Luther, Luther: The Fallen Sun is set for a limited theatrical run! The follow up film to the hit BBC series starring Idris Elba will receive a brief release in theaters starting February 24 before hitting Netflix on March 10. Elba shared a new teaser for the film along with the news.

Luther: The Fallen Sun is written by original series creator Neil Cross and directed by Jamie Payne, who directed the final season of the show. Aside from Elba, Dermot Crowley will reutrn from the original series alongside new additions Cynthia Erivo, Jess Liaudin, and Andy Serkis. Netflix previously released a synopsis and photos from the film, which has been in the works for several years even before the show’s original finale in 2019.
