As season 2 filming continues on DC’s Stargirl, another casting announcement has been made. Entertainment Weekly exclusively revealed that comedian Jim Gaffigan will join the superhero show, voicing the character Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt is a mischievous creature who resides inside a pink pen, just waiting for an unsuspecting passerby to click it and release him. Thunderbolt grants wishes that often turn out wrong, but he is not evil and doesn’t intend to cause the chaos he often does.

We’ve already seen the pink pen on the show, with Courtney finding it amongst the Justice Society of America gear she takes at the start of the season. It will be exciting to see how Thunderbolt will fit into the season alongside the previously announced villains joining the show. Be sure to check out the second season of DC’s Stargirl when it premieres in January 2021 on The CW!
