After over a year between teasers, a changed release date, and extensive reshoots, the long-awaited full trailer for Artemis Fowl has arrived.
The film is based on the massively popular young adult series from Eoin Colfer that follows Artemis Fowl, a child criminal mastermind, and his adventures with the Fairy People. The trailer appears to reveal massive changes to the source material, with Artemis’ father assuming a much larger role in reshoots and Artemis’ personality seeming to be much less evil/borderline sociopathic than in the books. The trailer also teases the presence of antagonist Opal Koboi, who does not appear until later in the novels.

The film version has been in the works since the early 2000s, with various incarnations being rumored and shut down over the years. The last teaser was released in November of 2018, with no new promotional material until now. Artemis Fowl was originally set for release in August of 2019, but was pushed back to allow time to retool the film. The book series ran from 2001 to 2012 and included eight books, with the spinoff series The Fowl Twins being released in 2019.
