New And Final ‘Joker’ Trailer Released!
With a little over a month to go until its cinematic release, a brand new trailer for Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix has been revealed by Warner Bro’s today. The film will be part of the DC Comic Extended Universe and was written and directed by Todd Phillips. It also stars Robert De Niro as Murray Franklin and Zazie Beetz (known for her role as Domino in Deadpool 2) as Sophie Dumond.
The trailer opens with The Joker interacting with a child on a bus and cuts to him talking to a therapist, emphasizing the tragic backstory of the later villain. We see a misunderstood character and failed comedian who is plagued by “negative thoughts”, who then suddenly turns on society and their ways of excluding him. Interestingly, the music in the trailer goes from a heroic theme to that of a supervillain, showing The Joker’s descent into madness.
Even though there have been frankly many iconic portrayals of this character, it will be interesting to see what Phoenix will bring to the role. The trailer looks promising and we certainly can’t wait to see the movie, which will be released on October 4 this year.
