Eurovision is coming to Netflix!

The plot of Eurovision will center around Lars Erickssong (Will Ferrell) and Sigrit Ericksdottir (Rachel McAdams), aspiring musicians chosen to represent Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest. Pierce Brosnan will play Lars’ father Erick Erickssong, “the most handsome man in Iceland.” Since the movie is based on the Eurovision Song Contest, there will hopefully be crazy musical numbers, humor and a lot of countries voting for their neighbors. There is a lot to look forward to!

Ferrell is spearheading the project, as he is co-writing, producing and starring in the movie. He is a long time fan of the Eurovision Song Contest, having first encountered it on a trip to Sweden in 1999 with his wife, actress Viveca Paulin. He reportedly went to see the 2019 competition in Lisbon, Portugal to do research and get some inspiration. If you live in the US you can check out this year’s competition on Netflix.

Eurovision is currently in production in both the UK and in Iceland, and will be streaming on Netflix. There is no official release date yet, but it would make sense for it to drop in time for the next Eurovision Song Contest.

What do you think? Will they manage to bring out the true spirit of the Eurovision Song Contest? Leave your thoughts below!

In her free time you can find her either playing Dungeons & Dragons 5e, or on Twitter (@killingnormalcy) yelling about Critical Role, Marvel, Twenty One Pilots, and Overwatch.
