20th Century Studios is bringing audiences a new heartfelt comedy with Quiz Lady, which tells the story of polar opposite siblings and the game show that could change their lives, and a first poster has been released for the film.
In Quiz Lady audiences will follow Anne (Awkwafina), a straight-laced young woman that is obsessed with game shows, and her sister Jenny (Sandra Oh), who is her opposite in every way. The sisters do not have the best relationship, but are forced to work together when faced with a dilemma — their mother has accumulated a large amount of debt from gambling and they must pay it all. These circumstances lead them on a cross-country adventure trying to win money the only way they know how, by playing on game shows. Hoping to turn Anne into a game show champion seems to be the answer to all their issues.
Joining the two talented leads will be Jason Schwartzman, Holland Taylor, Tony Hale, and Will Ferrell.
Quiz Lady is directed by Jessica Yu and written by Jen D’Angelo. Acting as producers on the film are Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, Maggie Haskins, Itay Reiss, Jen D’Angelo, Awkwafina, and Sandra Oh. Alex Brown and Erika Hampson serve as executive producers.
Quiz Lady premieres at Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, September 9, 2023. The film will hit streaming services on November 3, 2023, exclusively on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ under the Star banner in all other territories.
