Lucasfilm To Develop Open-World ‘Star Wars’ Game With Ubisoft

Earlier this week, Lucasfilm announced that all gaming titles from the company will now fall under an official identity that has been revived after lying dormant for years — Lucasfilm Games. This includes current titles like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars: Squadrons, and more, and other future developments that are already in the works.

One of those upcoming titles was announced today, and it’s something that many fans have been waiting on for years. Lucasfilm Games will be collaborating with the critically-acclaimed company Ubisoft on a story-driven, open-world Star Wars game. The game will be developed via Ubisoft’s Sweden-based studio Massive Entertainment.

In discussing the upcoming venture, Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games told starwars.com, “We know that fans of Star Wars value the feeling of immersion — of being transported into the Star Wars galaxy and moving through richly-detailed environments. It’s fun to imagine what the team at Massive can do within Star Wars by bringing their innovative spirit and their commitment to quality.”
