The CW’s Walker returned tonight from its midseason break, and it’s pulling out all of the punches. We start to see the repercussions unfold from Liam’s fake police report decision, Micki leaving and the effect it had on Trey, and more.
We also spoke to Keegan Allen about the series and the upcoming episodes, and you can read that here.
The Beginning
At the beginning of the episode, we see the Walker family, minus Bonham, preparing food and Cordell is obviously very angry at Liam. Augie and Stella ask about their contention, and after some pleading, Liam tells them what happened with Dan and filing a fake police report.
The Time Jump
After the main credits, Cordell is at the station when he sees Micki’s nameplate being taken off of her desk. Captain James asks to see Cordell and asks if he’s heard from Liam. Cordell says he hasn’t heard from him in three weeks, and Captain James says that Serano’s lawyers have been granted a continuance based on Liam’s actions and that he can’t be trusted to not tamper with Serano’s case and are trying to get Serano out on bail. Captain James also tells Cordell he’s not allowed on any cases involving Serano or Northside Nation.
Rebecca Brenneman/The CW
Stella and College
Stella and Colton are at the school where there is a college fair with a bunch of booths. It spooks Stella and she heads to see Trey, Stella says Liam needs them and it doesn’t feel right not to return the favor when he’s always there for them.
Cordell arrives at Stella’s school and the two decide to go out on a “we day” like what Emily and Stella used to do. Stella asks Cordell how he knew what he wanted to do after high school, and missing out on college. The two decide to go to the park to play Bocce Ball. The two are playing and talking, and a flashback occurs where Emily and Stella play the same game at the same place. The two set off for HQ, and Cordell tells Stella a story about him and Liam getting into a fight at school. Stella asks why he’s telling her this story right now, and Cordell says it’s because he thinks he’s the one who taught Liam to do something stupid in the name of doing something right.
Liam and… Bret!
We see Liam next out in the middle of the woods chopping wood. He receives a call from Captain James who tells him about the continuance and that Serano’s lawyers are going to want a statement from him. Cap gives him a lecture about doing the right thing, and that he’s trying to protect him.
Next we see Liam at The Side Step… and Bret appears! Bret says that Stella called him and was concerned, so he came down. The two grab food and Liam’s drinking alcohol when he gets a call from Serano’s lawyers about his statement. He denies wanting to speak to them, and they ask for his official recusal where he sobers up and says no, he has more to say. He and Bret discuss that if they’re asking for an official recusal, they have ulterior motives. As they talk through it, they realize that it might be for Serano’s lawyers to get the case thrown out due to Cordell’s past misconduct. Liam freaks out, telling Bret to take him to Ranger HQ to make the statement, but Liam’s drunk. Bret calls Cordell, who makes his way to the station.
Walker Ranch
At the Walker ranch, Colton pulls up to Abeline and Augie outside. He asks about Stella since she left school. They tell them that Stella is with her dad, but Augie asks him if he’d help him with his music. Abeline questions about his parents being angry about him being there, but Colton says he wasn’t planning on telling him. Augie plays the piano with Colton there and Abeline starts singing a song Colton’s mom sang to him. They talk about their families, and Colton talks about his family, his adoption, and how his parents were on the brink of divorce. Abeline reassures Colton that they can’t be bad, considering how he turned out, and it ends with her telling Colton he can call her Abeline, not Mrs. Walker.
Abeline is feeding the boys and tells them that she and Gale used to be friends. She tells him about his grandpa and how he was a good man. As they go back to the piano, Augie tells Colton that he found a lantern with his family’s brand in the barn.

Trey and the Aftermath of Micki
At Trey’s house, he’s surrounded by a ton of boxes, showing the aftermath of Micki’s departure. Captain James comes to see him and check on him, and ask about his visit to see Micki while she was undercover, and that there’s a grey car in the alley watching him. Trey reassures him he’s safe and knows how to take care of himself. The two play video games for a bit, and Cap asks if they’re going to talk about Micki. Trey says he’s not sure what to say, and that he keeps running scenarios of what he could have changed. Cap also says he does the same. Cap gets a call from HQ, and tells Trey that they need to go, looking outside the window. They ran the plates on the car, and they confirm Trey is being watched by Serano’s men.
Liam at Ranger HQ
Trey and Cap arrive at HQ where they run into Liam and Bret. They see just how far gone Liam is and they’re worried. As Trey and Bret try to take Liam to grab some coffee, Serano’s lawyers arrive and start harassing Liam. Liam bites back at the lawyers, calling them “smug” and that tells one of the lawyers “your outfit is a joke” before things escalate. Cordell and Stella arrive at the door hearing the arguments.
Next, Liam is in Captain James’ office and lectures him about showing up a mess. Cap asks if there’s something more since he’s been spinning ever since losing DA. Liam says he lost the DA to a man who killed his sister-in-law, and Cap asks him to think about what he wants.
Stella and Trey talk in the Rangers Station and talk about missing Micki, and Trey talks to Stella about her future.
Bret waits for Liam, who sits down and they talk about their future. Liam says he misses him, Bret says he does as well. Liam says he thinks they’re waiting for him to be a person worth making a promise to. Bret says he’s waiting for Liam to see he is worth being that person. Cordell interrupts and takes over for Bret so he can talk to Liam.
Liam and Cordell take a drive and Cordell apologizes for hitting his ball out of the way in Bocce, and tells him about his and Stella’s “we day”. Cordell stops Liam and says that losing Micki hurts, but that Liam is also his partner and his brother and that he realized that when he’s too close to it he can’t see the fall. Cordell tells Liam he thinks he’s slipping, and Liam says he’s gotten so far away from who he is and who he wants to be. He says when he saw what Serano’s lawyers were trying to do, he got his chance at absolution. Cordell reassures him that owning up to his mistakes takes courage and that whenever he wants to give his official statement that he’ll be there.
Liam, Cordell, Bret, and Stella play cards after, and Stella says she started her first application to college, to one in Maine.
The Shootout
Captain James drops Trey back off at home and that Trey has a security detail and he’ll wait around until they arrive. As Trey goes to go back inside, Cap gets out and sees something in his side mirror. He draws his gun and gets shot in the leg. He engages in a shootout as Trey takes cover on the front porch. The episode ends as Captain James is shot in the chest and is lying on the front steps bleeding.

In the Batwoman mid-season premiere, Pamela Isley finally makes her first appearance. Sophie, Luke, Ryan, and Renee work together to find a solution for Mary. Meanwhile, Marquis seems to have his own mysterious agenda. Read on to find out what happens in “Trust Destiny.”
Poison Ivy 1.0
Dean Buscher/The CW
It’s 10 years ago, and Renee still works for GCPD. She and her partner search for Pamela Isley. Pamela appears, but Renee doesn’t shoot, giving Pamela the opportunity to impale Renee’s partner with a vine before disappearing again.
In the present, Renee visits Mary’s now plant overrun clinic. She spots a flower that sends her back into a flashback. In it, she confronts Pamela about what happened with her partner. He’s not dead, but Renee is angry. Pamela is relatively unphased. Renee wants the pre-Poison Ivy Pamela back, but she’s gone.
Finding a Lead
Mary and Alice have some self-care, sister bonding time in a fancy hotel room. The hotel manager arrives and tells them to leave, as Mary has racked up a major charge she can’t pay for. She uses her powers to compel the manager to let it slide. Mary vents about how Luke and Ryan cut her off, annoyed that now that she’s not vying for their attention, they won’t leave her alone. Alice says the best way to get them off her back is to make them hate her.
Meanwhile, Luke, Ryan, and Sophie have set up a new home base with Renee, who argues with Ryan about what happened with Mary and Marquis. Ryan tries to justify when Renee tells her what happened with Pam. Renee thinks they need a tougher approach, sharing how Batman helped create a serum that stopped Poison Ivy and dessicated (but didn’t kill) Pamela. If they can find the serum, they can help Mary. Ryan is reluctant, but Luke and Sophie are on board.
Luke shows them a map of how to find journals Bruce kept with the information they need. But since Marquis took over Wayne, security is iron clad. Right on cue, Marquis calls Ryan. Again, she tells him he needs help, but he doesn’t seem to care anymore. (He’s grown quite unhinged since we last saw him.) Someone interrupts and lets him know about a mask for a party. Then he thanks Ryan for what’s happened. After they hang up, Ryan tells the group she thinks Marquis is hosting a party at Wayne. And they’re going to crash it.
Party Crashers
Dean Buscher/The CW
Luke, Ryan, and Sophie go over their cover stories in the elevator. Luke hands them their masks, and Ryan’s is equipped with a retinal scanner. They enter the party where they’re each handed a playing card. As they move through the crowd, Luke manages to get information from someone’s tablet, and Sophie gets a shot glass with Marquis’ fingerprints. Marquis begins to make a speech and the group realizes the party is some sort of interview. He calls out a card and questions the first person, who fails. Luke tells Ryan she needs to get closer to get a good scan. So, when Marquis calls the next card, Ryan sneakily swaps hers and heads up. She gets through the questioning and gets the scan without incident.
Sophie, Ryan, and now Renee head to the bat cave. While in the elevator, Ryan is annoyed that Renee is there, who reminds Ryan she just wants to help. Ryan accepts the help but isn’t happy about it and wants Batwoman’s named cleared after this. When they arrive to their floor, they take out the security guards and head down into the cave.
Dean Buscher/The CW
Luke lets the trio know Mary is at the party. They’re not finding much from the journals until Ryan notes they’re chronological. She asks when Renee first asked Batman for help and it leads them to find an entry about the city dam. Renee flashes back. She remembers finding Pamela packing to leave. Renee wants to know what her plans with the dam are and that Pamela needs to choose between flooding the city or Renee. Pamela says Renee, but she won’t stop her plan and needs Renee’s support. Pamela notices a flower Renee brought. The two kiss just before Renee injects Pamela with the serum.
In the present, Sophie remarks Batman needed to keep Pamela somewhere hidden but with easy access. Ryan realizes exactly where that is. She turns her attention to the tangled mound of branches that sits in the center of the main part of the cave; Pamela has been in the bat cave somewhere.
The Heartbeat of Wayne
Sophie offers to let Renee out, but Renee declines; she wants to help. Batwoman begins scanning all of Wayne and isolates a specific sound: a heartbeat coming from the lowest part of the tunnels. The trio heads down and finds a particularly interesting cluster of branches. They break it open and find Pamela, still desiccated. Batwoman still struggles to wrap her head around doing the same to Mary, but Sophie and Renee remind her why they need to. Batwoman extracts the serum and heads back up, leaving Sophie and Renee to make sure Pamela doesn’t reanimate.
Sophie assures Renee that Pamela will forgive her. Renee then leans into Alice, saying that she’ll mess up and ping a traffic cam. This prompts Sophie to remember a fraud alert she received earlier. She checks the charge and sees that it leads back to a hotel. She leaves to go check it out. When she arrives, she realizes Alice lured her there. Alice tells Sophie that Renee has been lying to all of them, adding that Sophie will find what she needs in Renee’s office.
A Dance to Remember
Mary approaches Marquis. The two snark back and forth, and Mary tells him she’s there for him. They dance and Marquis wonders where Ryan is. Mary calls this and his general clinginess to Ryan out. She continues that he doesn’t need to worry about Ryan; she’s too busy trying to fix Mary. Then Mary tells Marquis that she wants revenge and he’s the one to help her. She whispers something to him that makes him stop in his tracks before she leaves.
Marquis confronts Luke and reveals he knows Luke is Batwing. A couple security guards surround him. Meanwhile, Batwoman finds Mary on the roof. Just as she’s about to inject Mary with the serum, Marquis arrives with Luke at gunpoint, revealing he also knows Ryan is Batwoman. He brings up the bus and Joker incident again. Just before he’s about to shoot Luke, Batwoman throws the serum injector at him. Mary gets away as Marquis begins to dessicate.
Truth Will Out
Back at the hotel, Mary tells Alice about what happened, and that Ryan seemed afraid of the serum. She’s upset that she was the least of Batwoman’s problem because she just wanted Batwoman to see her as powerful. Alice shares that since the Poison Mary era began she hasn’t experienced any delusions, and that’s powerful.
Sophie gets into Renee’s file cabinet and finds the joy buzzer. While she does, Luke and Batwoman bring Marquis to the clinic. Batwoman calls Jada to let her know she has Marquis. Sophie calls Luke and tells them about the joy buzzer and that Renee was only using them to get Pamela back. Speaking of, Renee talks to Pam when a flower blooms. Renee asks if Pam can hear her before kissing her. Pam wakes up and then they’re gone.
Batwoman airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on The CW, available the next day on The CW app and cwtv.com. Find our previous recaps and the rest of our coverage here.

A full, red band trailer dropped today for the eagerly awaited Critical Role animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina.
The show is an adaption ofthe first campaign of Critical Role, a livestreamed web series featuring a party of friends and voice actors playing Dungeons and Dragons. Despite traditional studios initially not wanting to take on the animation, The Legend of Vox Machina raised nearly $12 million (from one of the fastest funded Kickstarter campaigns in the site’s history) when the Critical Role team decided to fund the project themselves. That kind of money gets attention, and Amazon Prime Video quickly acquired the streaming rights and jumped to renew the series for a second season, before the first had even begun airing!
It looks as if the show is shaping up to be just as hilariously profane, gruesome, and epic as the hugely successful web series that it is based upon.
Until now, the central characters of The Legend of Vox Machina have been described with quirky, marketing-friendly monikers, such as “loveable misfits” and “a band of unlikely heroes.” But with the release of the red-band trailer, the carefully sanitized descriptions were given a (giant, glowing) middle finger.
The trailer has everything, from foul-mouthed revelry to badass fights. Even better, it’s packed with the kind of unfettered fun, dumbassery, and slightly manic energy that anyone who has played Dungeons and Dragons in real life will likely recognize from their own tables.
The Legend of Vox Machina looks like it will be compelling viewing for established fans and for total newcomers to both Critical Role and Dungeons and Dragons in general. Season 1 will begin with a completely new story featuring all seven of the original Vox Machina members, introducing them to new viewers. Then, for the rest of the season, the beloved, ragtag team will embark on an adapted version of the Briarwood story arc from Critical Role’s first campaign, chronicling their rise from broke, hungover brawlers to legendary heroes.
All voiced by their original players, the team is made up of Grog the barbarian (Travis Willingham, Marvel’s Avengers), Keyleth the druid (Marisha Ray, Final Fantasy XV), cleric Pike Trickfoot (Ashley Johnson, The Last of Us), Scanlan Shorthalt the bard (Sam Riegel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), gunsmith Percy (Taliesin Jaffe, Final Fantasy XIV), and half-elven twins Vax and Vex (Liam O’Brien Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and Laura Bailey, The Last of Us: Part II). Matthew Mercer (Overwatch), who plays the Dungeon Master role in the original Critical Role campaign, will be voicing Sylas Briarwood, one of the season’s main foes.
You can check out the full trailer below:
The Legend of Vox Machina is an animation for adults, produced by Critical Role in collaboration with Titmouse and Amazon Prime Video. The official season description reads:
“They’re rowdy, they’re ragtag, they’re misfits turned mercenaries for hire. Vox Machina is more interested in easy money and cheap ale than actually protecting the realm. But when the kingdom is threatened by evil, this boisterous crew realizes that they are the only ones capable of restoring justice. What began as a simple payday is now the origin story behind Exandria’s newest heroes.”
Amazon Prime Video also announced the release schedule for the series along with the trailer. The first season will have 12 episodes, with three episodes releasing each Friday, starting on January 28, 2022, as follows:
