HBO Series Adaptation of ‘The Time Traveler’s Wife’ Casts Rose Leslie and Theo James in Starring Roles

0

Back in the year 2003, a science fiction romance tale of love and loss was penned by author Audrey Niffenegger — The Time Traveler’s Wife. The story follows a man named Henry, who unfortunately has a genetic disorder that causes him to travel through time sporadically. Enter Clare, his beloved wife that unfortunately must cope with a marriage that is anything but predictable. The story was adapted into a film in 2009, which starred Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana.

The powerful, emotional, tragic, and romantic relationship of Henry and Clare is now making its return once more over a decade later, this time in the form of an HBO series. The roles of the starring couple will be filled by Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones) and Theo James (Divergent), respectively.

The series, which is currently in pre-production, will be adapted by Steven Moffatt (Doctor Who, Sherlock), who will also executive produce alongside Sue Vertue and Brian Minchin via Hartswood Films.

If you are a big movie fan then keep reading for some exciting news!

HBO Max has partnered once again with Let Them All Talk director Steven Soderbergh to direct KIMI, the latest New Line Max Original from the studio with Big Little Lies star Zoë Kravitz starring. The film will premiere only on HBO Max. KIMI was written by David Koepp who also produced the film with Michael Polaire. There has been no official release date announced as the film has yet to begin filming. The news was first reported by Deadline.

KIMI follows a tech worker who has agoraphobia (the extreme fear of open crowded places or leaving ones home) that has stumbled across recorded evidence of a violent crime during an ordinary review of data and attempts unsuccessfully to report it up the chain of command at the company she works at. With no luck due to resistance from those she tries to report it to, she makes the difficult choice to get involved — meaning she will have to leave the safety and security she finds in her apartment.

KIMI will be the second collaboration between Soderbergh, HBO Max, and Warner Bros. Pictures Group. This film will also be the third partnership between HBO Max and Soderbergh. Soderbergh previously directed the crime thriller No Sudden Move, with a star studded cast including Julia Fox, Brendan Fraser, Don Cheadle, David Harbour, Kieran Culkin, and many more. His most recent film Let Them All Talk, starring the one and only Meryl Streep, premiered on HBO Max this past December.

Kravitz just finished her role as the notorious Catwoman opposite Remember Me star Robert Pattinson in Matt Reeve’s The Batman and has gained popularity as one of the stars in the Hulu series High Fidelity. If this film is anything like other films by Soderbergh, KIMI is sure to keep you and your toes from beginning to end and Kravitz is sure to be a powerhouse in this thriller. Stay tuned and more KIMI news is announced!

Bill Burr Talks ‘The Mandalorian’ and His Boston Accent on ‘Literally! With Rob Lowe’

Stand-up comedian Bill Burr is the latest guest on the hit podcast Literally! With Rob Lowe, a show where Rob Lowe chats with new guests on a weekly basis about movies, TV, sports, music, and culture for fun, wide-ranging, free-wheeling conversations.

This week’s episode — “Who Killed The Hat?” — veered into a territory hailing from a galaxy far, far away as the two touched on Burr’s role in the hit Disney+ Star Wars series The Mandalorian. Burr portrayed Migs Mayfeld, a mercenary that teamed up with (and eventually betrayed) the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin in the first season. Mayfeld made his triumphant return in the tail end of season 2 when he assisted Din and his crew on a mission to Morak … and may he “rest in peace” (wink wink).

After Lowe discussed some of his own family history with the original Star Wars films, Burr joked about the fact that some fans have given him a hard time about his use of a Boston accent on the show.

Check out the video clip from the episode below.

Gina Torres To Appear on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ on March 4

The first half of season 2 of FOX’s 9-1-1: Lone Star has been on fire and the winter finale is almost here. The 126 would not be able to get by without Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega. Gina Torres, who plays the firehouse’s newest captain, will be appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show just days before the winter finale airs on Thursday, March 4!

Tommy has been fitting into the 126 perfectly and in the most recent episode of the 9-1-1 spin-off, Tommy and Nancy (Brianna Baker) spent the hour trying to find a new paramedic to join them. At the end, after noticing a familiar application, Tommy might have finally found that perfect candidate. In next week’s episode, however, the captain will be feeling out of place in her own home as husband Charles (Derek Webster) has taken on the position of full-time parent.

Check your local listings to see when and where you can catch Torres on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday, March 4 and watch 9-1-1: Lone Star on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on FOX, with the winter finale airing on Monday, March 8!

A Magical World Comes to the Stage — ‘Spirited Away’ Play Announced

0

In 2001, Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli introduced the world to what would soon be regarded as one of the greatest animated films of all time — Spirited Away.

Spirited Away is a Japanese animated fantasy film that follows 10-year-old Chihiro as she embarks on a wild and mystical journey. While she and her parents are on their way to their new home, a wrong turn eventually leads them to what appears to be an abandoned town. However, things are not quite as they appear. Chihiro soon finds herself separated from her parents as she ends up in a perplexing, enchanting, and slightly terrifying realm full of spirits and other strange creatures.

This Oscar-winning film has captivated generations over the past two decades, and it’s certainly not finished yet. A theatrical production of Spirited Away is now in the works, which will be the very first stage adaptation of one of Miyazaki’s films. The play will be written and directed by Tony Award-winner John Caird.

Studio Ghibli

Two different actresses have been cast in the lead role as Chihiro — Kanna Hashimoto (Kingdom) and Mone Kamishiraishi (Your Name.).

The theatrical production of Spirited Away is set to make its world premiere run at Toho’s Imperial Theatre in Tokyo from February through March of 2022. It will then tour across several other cities in Japan, including Osaka (April 2022), Fukuoka (May 2022), Sapporo (June 2022), and Nagoya (June-July 2022).

90s Kids Get Excited, Paramount+ Is Rebooting ‘Rugrats’

0

As part of their children’s programming plan, Paramount+ is expanding, revisiting, and rebooting a variety of favorite Nickelodeon programs including iCarly, Dora the Explorer, and their most recent reboot announcement Rugrats.

The announcement came as part of a large roll out of content announcements on the Paramount+ Twitter account earlier this week that included a first look at the updated CG animation for the series. Rugrats originally ran for nine seasons on Nickelodeon from 1991 to 2004, and saw a great deal of success beyond that as well. This included multiple theatrical films, TV movies and a spin off series Rugrats All Grown Up!. So it is unsurprising that Paramount+ has chosen to bring it back.

As of now, the original voice cast from Rugrats is set to return for the reboot including E.G. Daily (Tommy), Nancy Cartwright (Chuckie), Cheryl Chase (Angelica), Cree Summer (Susie), and Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil). Check out the new first look below, and be sure to stay tuned for more information as we get it!

‘Guiding Light’ Is Getting a Virtual Reunion Featuring Rachel Miner

0

Rachel Miner is reuniting with former Guiding Light costar Bryan Buffinton on Alan Locher’s YouTube show, “The Locher Room” for a small virtual reunion.

“The Locher Room” is the brain child of a former Hollywood PR man’s hope to bring fans together in a pandemic world. Since the show’s launch in April of 2020, Locher has hosted approximately 120 shows in which he chats with a variety of celebrities from actors to authors and beyond. The shows are available live on his YouTube channel.

Miner and Buffington are among the latest guests to be announced for the show, and given that of the multitude of shows on “The Locher Room” thus far, over 25 of them have featured at least one cast member from Guiding Light. It looks like they will fit right in. The official summary of their episode reads:

Bryan joined the cast of Guiding Light in 1990 and Rachel joined two years later. Fans loved watching Little Bill and Michelle’s young friendship and early romance blossom on the show. This talented duo have been friends for about two decades and will come together to share their memories about their special time in Springfield and so much more. Rachel currently serves as the Executive Director of Random Acts and will tell us about the great work she does with this organization.

So fans of Guiding Light can expect some fun content about Miner and Buffinton’s time on the show, but for those who are unfamiliar with the show, it looks like Miner will be sharing about Random Acts and all the good work she gets to participate in there.

You will be able to catch Rachel Miner and Bryan Buffinton here on Friday, March 5 at 3 p.m. ET, or anytime after that via “The Locher Room” channel on YouTube.
