‘Walker’: What We Hope to See in Season 4

Share:

With the fourth season of The CW’s Walker officially underway filming, we can’t help but go through some of the things we’d like to see in the upcoming fourth season. In the season 3 finale, we saw the wedding of Larry and Kelly, Cassie potentially leaving for an operation with the FBI, Sadie and Stella confronting an intruder, and more.

While season 4 has been announced to be a shorter season (thirteen episodes), we’re curious about where the story will go and if we’ll get to see any more familiar faces. We compiled a list of things we’d love to see in season 4.

What Happens with the Jackal

Season 3 left us on a cliffhanger for the “Jackal”, a serial killer who has is seemingly back, setting up a big storyline for season 4. The Jackal is someone who Cordell and Larry have history with, and this seems to be bringing it all back again, which was a problem for the Larry previously who got consumed by it. The case went cold, and the two were pulled off of it. Now, however, after a recent death of one of the Jackal’s previous targets, it seems they’ve returned.

This should be setting up a big part of season 4, and it will be interesting how this pans out and how it’s all connected. Will this also mean we get Cordell and Larry working a major case together again?

Sadie, Stella, and the Mystery Intruder

Walker introduced a new character in season 3 in Sadie, Hoyt’s daughter. She seamlessly integrated her way into the Walker family, becoming part of their circle pretty quickly.

In the finale, we see that Geri’s house was broken into and trashed and Sadie and Stella discovered the intruder when they went to change clothes from the wedding. The person was still in the house, and Stella and Sadie confronted them. A gun went off, and it turned out that the intruder was shot who ended up being a friend, Witt, that Sadie knew and that the girls met previously at a party. The girls go get Liam to help, and when Liam arrives back with them, they see that Witt disappeared. It’s going to be interesting to see how he’s connected to all of this and whether this will all tie into a bigger storyline with the Jackal, or take on a separate plot. What will happen next? We can’t wait to see where this story goes.

The Walker: Independence Cast Make An Appearance

With the heartbreaking cancellation of the Walker prequel, Walker: Independence, we’d love to see more of the WIndy cast make an appearance on the mothership. While Matt Barr came back in season 3 to portray his former character, Hoyt, and Justin Johnson Cortez appeared in the final episode in season 3 (and hopefully has more of a role in season 4) as Detective Luna, we’d love to see more of the cast. It would make for fun little easter eggs for fans to have them drop in places, even if for cameos.

Cordell and Geri’s Relationship Explored

Cordell and Geri were apart for a large part of season 3, but came back together with the promise of a renewed relationship at the end of the season. We’ve watched both of these characters go through so much since the start of the series, and this finally seems like the right time for these two. We’d love nothing more than to see their relationship continue to blossom throughout season 4.

More Bonham and Abby

One of the things that I love most about this show is their ability to tell stories with all of the characters, particularly giving great storylines to Bonham and Abby. The two are such well-rounded characters and Mitch Pileggi and Molly Hagan have such great chemistry on screen. We hope we continue to see the story between these two continue in season 4.

Geniveve Padalecki’s Emily Returning

While it’s probably not a good thing that Cordell sees Emily in his head during the hardest of times, I can’t help but love seeing Geniveve Padalecki on my screen as Emily. We hope they continue to weave her into the show in some capacity.

Stella, Liam, and the Walker Rescue

Stella is returning to college in the fall, and she’s also going to continue helping Liam with the Rescue since she’s staying closer to home. We’d love to see the Rescue continuing to play a role in the series and how the family gets involved with it.

Augie and Cordell’s Relationship

In the finale, Augie tells Cordell about wanting to join the Army. This opened up a really big point in their relationship where Augie was able to talk to Cordell about what he wanted for his future, a stark difference to episodes prior. Their relationship has grown leaps and bounds throughout the series, and we can only hope that this openness of their relationship continues into season 4 and we see the two get closer and have more meaningful conversations.

Cassie and Trey

Towards the end of season 3, we saw more and more of Cassie and Trey working together, and their relationship blossom. Whether that turns romantic remains to be seen; however, we love their dynamic and the two of them working together to solve cases, and can only hope that we see more of this and their opportunity to work together (especially if Cordell and Captain James are working together on the Jackal).

The Walker Family Heritage Revealed

We’d love to know just how the Walkers tie into our beloved WIndy characters. We didn’t get a direct connection to who carried the Walker family line other than Abigail in Walker: Independence, so it would be interesting to see how that Walker line got started, Given that Abigail chose Walker as her surname to not be discovered in Independence. We’d also love to see if any of the familiar faces from WIndy are ancestors to some of our other beloved Walker characters.

Finding Out Cordell’s Birthday

This is a fun one! Fans have been wondering since the show’s start when Cordell’s birthday was, so it would be fun to get a little nod either spoken or on a prop as to the exact date of his birthday.

BONUS: Jake Abel Directing

When we interviewed Jake Abel about coming onto the show as Kevin, he expressed interest in wanting to direct a future episode of Walker. As a bonus wish of things we’d like to see in season 4, we hope that he’s given that chance the upcoming season.

Walker stars Jared Padalecki, Ashley Reyes, Keegan Allen, Odette Annable, Mitch Pileggi, Molly Hagan, Jeff Pierre, Violet Brinson, and Kale Culley. You can read all of our previous coverage on Walker including recaps, interviews and more, here.
