Kojima Productions and 505 Games have announced Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Hideo Kojima’s definitive vision of the genre-defying epic, will be available on Apple devices on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. The game will be available on iPhone 15 Pro models powered by the A17 Pro chip and every iPad and Mac with M-series chips.
Players will experience the groundbreaking open-world adventure through the graphic power of Apple silicon which is released as a Universal Purchase so users can play across iPhone, iPad, and Mac with only one purchase. New content exclusive to the director’s cut allows players to explore locations such as a dangerous underground factory, expanded story missions, and the ability to equip Sam with a wealth of new delivery assists like cargo catapults and a newly-added stabilizer function.
Set in a post-apocalyptic United States, Death Stranding introduces players to a world after a cataclysmic event known as the “Death Stranding” created “Beached Things” (BTs), destructive and invisible creatures, which now roam the Earth, originating from the “Beach.” “The Beach” are lands thought to be unique to each person and are visited during near-death experiences and said to be the link to the afterlife. BTs are created from the dead via necrosis and their consumption of living humans poses several massive threats — “The Voidout,” which are explosions that resemble nuclear bombs, and “Timefall,” a rain that rapidly ages anything it touches.
The BTs have obviously caused massive infrastructure damage to the United States, forcing what remains of humanity to confine themselves in the “Knot Cities,” the cities remaining that make up the “United Cities of America.”
The cast for Death Stranding includes Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Lindsay Wagner. In addition to the main cast are the likenesses of film directors Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn as supporting characters.
Death Stranding Director’s Cut is available for preorder on Apple devices today on the App Store at a special discount, up to 50%.
