Netflix Reveals Release Date for ‘Leave the World Behind’

As a part of Netflix’s 2023 film slate preview today, the streaming platform revealed the release date for their upcoming film — Leave the World Behind. The film will release on December 08, 2023.

The official description reads:

“A family vacation on Long Island is interrupted by two strangers bearing news of a mysterious blackout. As the threat grows more imminent, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world.”

Based on the book of the same name by Rumaan Alam, the psychological thriller tells the stories of two families, led by Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali, as they fight for survival amid an inexplicable blackout. The cast also stars Ethan Hawke, Myha’la, Farrah Mackenzie, Charlie Evans and Kevin Bacon.

Alam serves as executive producer of the film, alongside Barack and Michelle Obama, Tonia Davis, Daniel M. Stillman and Nick Krishnamurthy.
