Sam Esmail, creator of Mr. Robot (USA) and Homecoming (Amazon Prime), has lined up his next project with Netflix. Esmail will write and direct the film adaptation of Rumaan Alam’s newest book Leave the World Behind. Denzel Washington and and Julia Roberts are currently attached to star in the film, though which roles they’ll take are not yet confirmed. Esmail, Washington, and Roberts will all produce, along with Chad Hamilton at Esmail Corp., as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Leave the World Behind follows a husband and wife as they travel to Long Island, expecting a nice vacation with their son and daughter. However, when the owners of their rental suddenly return, panicked, the two families are forced into a tense situation with no connection to the outside world. You can purchase the book here.
