The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Benedict Cumberbatch is officially signed on for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3 as Doctor Strange.

Cumberbatch, who is gearing up to film Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, will fill the mentor role of Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, both of whom held the position in the first two films, Homecoming and Far From Home. Because of this change, it gives Holland the opportunity to work with a plethora of seasoned actors. And after the events of Endgame with Tony and Fury being in space at the end of Far From Home … Peter is definitely going to need a new mentor to look up to.

Spider-Man 3 is set to begin filming this month in Atlanta, Georgia.
