‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ Receives 2022 Release Date, Minnie Driver Joins Cast

Netflix

The Continent is taking us to the past.

As part of the TUDUM: A Global Fan Event releases, Netflix has announced the release date for The Witcher: Blood Origin series, as well as an official poster.

The Witcher: Blood Origin will show what the Continent was like before the pivotal events of the conjunction of the spheres which brought with it monsters and chaos. In the series, viewers will get to see the (assumedly horrible) circumstances that lead to the first witcher being created. The series will journey into the elven world 1,200 years before the events we know in The Witcher.

Declan de Barra helms as showrunner and executive producer along with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Andrzej Sapkowski will be a creative consultant on the series. Joining the team from Hivemind will be Jason Brown and Sean Daniel, along with Tomek Baginski and Sean Daniel from Platige Films to serve as executive producers.

Netflix also announced during the event that Minnie Driver joins the cast of the series as Seanchai, the narrator of the story who is a shapeshifting collector of old lore with the abilities to travel between time and worlds. Basically, Driver will take on the role of the tour guide of the Continent for fans.

The Witcher: Blood Origin hits Netflix December 25, 2022. Stay tuned with Nerds & Beyond for more TUDUM: A Global Fan Event news here.
