‘Wicked’ Musical Being Turned Into Two Films

Musical fans, unite! Broadway’s beloved musical Wicked, will be split into two films, says director Jon M. Chu.

Chu took to Twitter to thank everyone for their support of the movie. He explained his decision to split the story into two parts writing, “As we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us all for so many years.” He added, “With more space, we can tell the story of Wicked as it was meant to be told while bringing even more depth and surprise to the journeys of these beloved characters.”

He revealed the release dates as Christmas 2024, and 2025, respectively. With the co-creator of the musical Stephen Schwartz helping, it’s sure to be a feast for the senses. What surprises lay in store for us? We’ll just have to wait and see to find out!
