Skydance New Media & Lucasfilm Games Partner for Upcoming Star Wars Game
Skydance New Media, the new interactive division of Skydance Media, announced a partnership with Lucasfilm Games for their next project. The developing game is described as a “richly cinematic action-adventure game featuring an original story in the legendary Star Wars galaxy.”
The new AAA game studio formed in 2019 by award winning writer/director Amy Hennig and Electronic Arts veteran Julian Beak to pioneer a new category of gaming. This new category promises a groundbreaking convergence of games, film, and television. This is the second notable project announced for the Skydance, following the late 2021 announcement that the studio would be partnering with Marvel Entertainment to create an all-new game with an original story and unique take for Marvel characters.
Hennig had the following to say about the newly announced venture: “I’ve often described how seeing Star Wars in 1977 essentially rewired my 12-year-old brain, shaping my creative life and future indelibly. I’m elated to be working with Lucasfilm Games again to tell interactive stories in this galaxy that I love.”
While this announcement marks only the second significant project from Skydance, this is certainly not new territory for the Star Wars franchise, which has a rich history in the gaming industry with entries such as the Star Wars Lego games, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and the Battlefront games.
