Matt Reeves has released the five-minute deleted scene from his critically acclaimed film The Batman featuring Barry Keoghan as the infamous Clown Prince of Crime, the Batman’s arch-nemesis: the Joker.

Unlike the scene that was ultimately kept in the movie between Paul Dano’s Riddler and Keoghan’s Joker, we actually get to see a glimpse of the most infamous criminal Gotham City has to offer, and it becomes clear why the prosthetics designer had to work with Keoghan on this film. In the scene, we see Robert Pattinson’s Batman speaking with the Joker through the glass at Arkham Asylum, seeking the help of another criminally insane in the hopes to catch the Riddler before it is far too late.

We hate to choose favorites, but the laugh Keoghan displays here for the character is truly haunting, and probably our favorite Joker laugh to date.

You can find our coverage for The Batman here, including a deeper dive into the Joker’s appearance toward the end of the film and our thoughts on Keoghan’s future in the franchise.

The Batman is playing exclusively in theaters now.
