Bo Burnham: Inside continues to bring in the gold. Tonight, the special has taken home the Best Comedy Special gold at the Critics Choice Awards.

The comedian/songwriter/filmmaker/actor was on a hot streak after his most recent special, his first since Make Happy in 2016. Despite a notable snub at the 2021 Emmys for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), Burnham has taken home a Hollywood Critics Association TV Award and a few wins at the Creative Emmys. He’s nominated for two Grammys and was also featured in the New York Times’ Best Actors of 2021.

Inside was revered for its raw honesty and the unbridled talent needed to put something of that magnitude together. Burnham made Inside as a one-man show, performing, directing, editing, and creating the sets for the 90-minute special. He spoke for many as he fabricated a complete descent into madness, something many were feeling coming into a full 12 months of the ongoing pandemic upon its release. He challenged society’s deterioration while simultaneously making us laugh, bringing about a sense of camaraderie through some dark days.

Bo Burnham: Inside is available to watch on Netflix.
