In a busy night for Ariana DeBose, the actress took home Best Supporting Actress honors at both the Critics Choice Awards and the BAFTAs! The frontrunner for the Academy Award in the same category, DeBose was present at the BAFTA ceremony in London along with West Side Story costars Mike Faist (also nominated) and Rachel Zegler to accept the honor.

DeBose accepted her Critics Choice Award via virtual broadcast from the Savoy Hotel in London, a compromise worked out between BAFTA and Critics Choice when the rescheduling of the latter show to the same date caused major conflicts for double nominees. DeBose has earned universal praise for her role as Anita in West Side Story, originally played by Rita Moreno in the original 1960s film adaptation of the classic musical.
