‘West Side Story’ Nominated for 5 BAFTAs

West Side Story was nominated for five BAFTAs in the nomination ceremony broadcast today by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts! The prestigious awards celebrate the best in both British and international film and television. The BAFTAs ceremony will be held on March 13, 2022.

West Side Story received nods for Best Sound, Production Design, and Casting. Mike Faist received his first major award nomination for Best Supporting Actor, while Ariana DeBose continued her domination in the Best Supporting Actress category.

DeBose also received an individual nomination for BAFTA’s Rising Star Award, which is a major honor given to performers who had a major breakthrough in 2022. Previous winners include James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Juno Temple, Tom Holland, Daniel Kaluuya, and more, with previous nominees like Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, Taron Egerton, Brie Larson, and more also going on to major career success.
