‘Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers’ Gets Trailer and Release Date
“Nobody wants a reboot!” shouts Chip in the first trailer for the Disney+ film Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, and he’s right. But this is not a reboot, it’s a comeback.
Based on the highly successful animated television series of the same name, the new film features John Mulaney and Andy Samberg as the titular chipmunks. However, in this film, the chipmunks are not quite the same as they were when we last saw them.
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers imagines the duo as former television stars, with their hit show, Rescue Rangers, 30 years in the past. Now living in the mixed cartoon and human version of modern-day Los Angeles, Chip (Mulaney) is settled in suburbia as an insurance salesman while Dale (Samberg) has had the latest CGI surgery and is working the convention circuit trying to relive his glory days. However, everything changes when one of the duo’s former costars mysteriously disappears. To rescue their friend, Chip and Dale must repair their broken friendship and take on their Rescue Rangers detective personas one more time.
In the trailer, which you can watch below, we get our look at the iconic duo in their new roles, as well as a glimpse into how the film will address changes to the character’s appearance (CGI surgery).
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers will debut exclusively on Disney+ on May 20.
