Disney has released the teaser trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King, which is set to release in theaters this upcoming winter, on December 20.
The story revolves around Rafiki telling the story of Mufasa to Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala, in a tale that also features Timon and Pumbaa.
New and returning cast members lend their voices to the film, including Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Anika Noni Rose, Keith David, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and introducing Blue Ivy Carter as Kiara.
Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for the film produced by Miranda and Mark Mancina, with additional music and performances by Lebo M.
Mufasa: The Lion King is directed by directed by Barry Jenkins, produced by Adele Romanski & Mark Ceryak, and executive produced by Peter Tobyansen.
