‘The Suicide Squad’ Try Not to Die in the Latest Trailer

The Task Force X squad is all back together with some interesting additions, and this time they are going to the jungle and the island of Corto Maltese. But this is not a vacation. They have to survive all the enemies waiting for them, survive each other, and survive Waller … basically, try not to die.

The Suicide Squad is on a mission to destroy a laboratory on the island. But nothing ever goes the way it is planned, especially with these villains. With Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) back pulling strings, using Bloodsport’s daughter as leverage — who are the villains here again? — a new team is assembled and lead by Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) with a few familiar faces like Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie). They will be joined by Peacemaker (John Cena), Bloodsport (Idris Elba), Polka-Dot Man (David Dastmalchian), Sul Soria (Alice Braga), Ratcatcher 2 (Daniela Melchior), T.D.K. (Nathan Fillion), Mongal (Mayling Ng), Savant (Michael Rooker), Blackguard (Pete Davidson), Thinker (Peter Capaldi), King Shark (Sylvester Stallone), Weasel (Sean Gunn), and Javelin (Flula Borg).

Um, guys, Weasel is licking the windows again.

You know the deal: successfully complete the mission, and you get ten years off your sentence. You fail to follow my orders in any way, and I detonate the explosive device in the base of your skull.

Their mission is to destroy Project Starfish –- is anyone else getting Starro the Conqueror vibes? Starro is literally a giant starfish that can shoot lasers from his tentacles, psychic and from space. If this is where James Gunn is heading with the second Suicide Squad film, I am here for it. We even get a glimpse of a pretty giant tentacle and a bunch of mini starfish being deployed. My favorite part of this trailer is when Blackguard tries to figure out what kind of “dog” he is sitting next to and freaks out at the word “werewolf.”

The Suicide Squad premieres in theaters August 6 and on HBO Max for a limited time; you can check out the latest trailer below titled “Rain,” which is the song by Grandson featuring Jessie Reyez playing throughout.
