In a new trailer for director Greta Gerwig’s Barbie that released today, it seems like plastic isn’t so fantastic after all.

Margot Robbie’s Barbie has noticed changes in Barbieland — cold showers, she’s falling off her roof, and she has flat feet! In order to make everything right again, she must visit the real world to find the truth of the universe. On her way, Ken tags along and they discover the modern world together. They roller skate at Venice Beach, Barbie punches a man for touching her butt and they get arrested, and Ken even tries to perform an appendectomy. But the real world is beginning to wonder how and why Barbie is there, Will Ferrell’s character included, as he’s trying to do everything in his power to get Barbie back in her box.

Robbie and Ryan Gosling star as Barbie and Ken, alongside a supporting ensemble cast that includes Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Ariana Greenblatt, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Issa Rae, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, and Kate McKinnon.

Gerwig wrote the film alongside Noah Baumbach (White Noise, Marriage Story)Barbie releases in theaters on July 21.
