Check Out Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy in New ‘The Boys’ PSA Video!

Amazon Prime Video

The epic season finale of season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys dropped today, leaving fans to enthusiastically speculate over what’s to come in the third season (which was confirmed over the summer).

A very exciting addition to the cast lineup for season 3 was announced back in August — Jensen Ackles. Showrunner Eric Kripke has included several cast members from his previous shows in The Boys thus far, and the addition of Supernatural‘s Ackles was a very welcome surprise.

Ackles is set to portray Soldier Boy, the first superhero and a spoof on Captain America. In the comics, Soldier Boy is the leader of a team of Supes known as Payback. Kripke told Entertainment Weekly that, Payback was “The Seven before The Seven,” and shared that the third season will explore the history of the team and its members.

EW released a hilarious PSA (brought to you by Vought) today, which features the cast of The Boys. Near the end of the video, Ackles makes his first “appearance” as Soldier Boy (though we don’t get to see him in the costume quite yet!)

Check it out below.

The Boys, which is based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, is set in a world where superheroes are real. However, behind closed doors, most of the Supes aren’t exactly the family-friendly, wholesome figures that people think they are. The worst of the lot are The Seven, a group of celebrity Supes working under the shady corporation Vought. Cue the Boys, a ragtag group of vigilantes fighting to take them all down. However, the corruption runs so deep in the world of superheroes that the task of doing so is not without consequence, and more often than not proves to be deadly.

A spin-off of the wildly successful series was announced a few weeks ago, which will focus on a Supe college run by Vought.
