Jensen Ackles Joins Cast of ‘The Boys’ for Season 3
We may still be a few weeks out from the premiere of season 2 of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys … but some incredibly exciting season 3 news has just dropped.
In an Instagram post, Supernatural star Jensen Ackles revealed that he will be joining the cast of The Boys for season 3!

Ackles will take on the role of the Soldier Boy, the first superhero.
Ackles previously worked with showrunner Eric Kripke on Supernatural. And ironically, another Supernatural alum may also be joining the cast for the third season — Jeffrey Dean Morgan. As reported by Kripke in July, nothing is set in stone due to Morgan’s role in The Walking Dead, but he’s very interested, and Kripke already has a role in mind for him. Oh, the possibilities.
Supernatural‘s Jim Beaver also appears in The Boys, as well as alums from one of Kripke’s other projects, Timeless — Goran Visnjic, Claudia Doumit, and Malcolm Barrett.
The season 3 renewal of The Boys was recently announced back in July during the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel. The writing team is currently at work in a virtual writer’s room, and they hope to begin shooting the season in early 2021 … COVID-19 pending.
The first three episodes of season 2 of The Boys will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 4. The remaining five will drop on a weekly basis after. A weekly after-show — Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys — is also coming on August 28.
