‘DOOM 64’ is Getting Physical for Nintendo Switch Release

In May of this year, Nintendo celebrated DOOM‘s 25th anniversary by releasing DOOM 64 — originally released on Nintendo 64 in 1997 — digitally for the Nintendo Switch. Yesterday, Limited Run Games announced that in continuation of the anniversary celebration they will be releasing a special edition physical copy of the game for both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 with preorders beginning next week on Friday, September 25 at 10 a.m. ET.

These special physical copies of the game will include not only the game itself, but a commemorative Nintendo 64 cart (that doesn’t actually function as a cart), a double-sided poster, and a behind-the-scenes booklet containing interviews. This bundle will retail for $54.99, which is notably more that the game’s digital price of $4.99. However, for hardcore fans and collectors this offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to own some unique DOOM 64 merchandise.
