New ‘Professor Layton’ Game Coming to Nintendo Switch

During the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, the company offered up a slew of content for upcoming 2023 Switch games, ranging from remasters, expansion packs, and other new games. Along with the big titles, Nintendo teased a brand-new Professor Layton coming soon to the console, titled Professor Layton and the New World of Steam.

While the announcement itself is exciting for fans of the mystery puzzle series, no specific information about what the upcoming game would entail beyond the return of Layton himself and his trusty assistant Luke. But based on the title, things will surely get… steamy.

The series began in 2007 with Professor Layton and the Curious Village and had five subsequent games. In each, players would traverse the respective settings in the point-and-click style games to solve puzzles and piece together a greater mystery. The most recent game was Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy. It follows a similar format but instead follows Katrielle, Layton’s daughter, as she works with her assistant Ernest and their talking dog, Sherl O. C. Kholmes (get it?).

Professor Layton and the New World of Steam currently has no projected release window. Watch the teaser announcement below:
