After a long wait, it has finally been confirmed that season 2 of the fantasy drama series A Discovery of Witches will premiere in January 2021!

A Discovery of Witches is based on the All Souls trilogy by author Deborah Harkness, sharing the name of the first book in the series. It follows the story of Diana Bishop (portrayed by Teresa Palmer), a historian and reluctant witch, who accidentally finds a long-lost bewitched alchemical manuscript and ends up far more entangled in the world of magic than she ever wanted (despite a looming family legacy). Enter Matthew Clairmont (portrayed by Matthew Goode), a mysterious geneticist who also happens to be a vampire. Despite the taboo on the fraternization of witches and vampires, the two end up forming an alliance as looming threats from the creature world await on the horizon.

After a whirlwind of events in the first season, episode 8 found Matthew and Diana on the run, fleeing to Elizabethan London in the 1500s with the help of Diana’s newly discovered timewalker powers.

Season 2 of A Discovery of Witches will premiere on British television via Sky One and Now TV in January 2021. The US premiere will follow soon after on Sundance Now and Shudder. The show has already been renewed for a third season as well. Palmer confirmed in an Instagram post that production on season 3 will be starting soon.
