‘Game of Thrones’ Showrunners To Receive AFF’s Outstanding Television Writer Award

Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will be the recipients of this year’s Outstanding Television Writer Award from the Austin Film Festival. This prestigious award is given annually for excellence in the industry. Benioff and Weiss have been executive producers, showrunners, and writers since the show’s inception.

In addition to his work on Game of Thrones, Benioff has worked on many hit movies and television shows, including Troy (2004), The Kite Runner (2007), and X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009).

Weiss is the author of Lucky Wander Boy and also worked as executive producer to The Specials (2009-2014), a TV documentary series.

Following the conclusion of Game of Thrones, the duo will begin work on a new HBO series entitled Confederate as well as an untitled project for Disney in the Star Wars Universe.

Benioff and Weiss will accept their award during the annual awards luncheon October 26. They will also be part of the 26th Annual Writers Conference programming.
